The Autumn/Winter 2011 Collections shown on the catwalks of London Fashion Week way back in February gave us a sense of comfort, depth and sensuality for this season. We take three key trends and show how you can wear them, from the high street to the designers.
Autumn/Winter 11 Fashion Trends
Stand out show Betty Jackson took focus on strong silhouettes and simple details. We cooed at the vibrant and rich colour palette of warm red tones showcased in an all in one jumpsuit of fleeced wool, a simple full length skirt and brighter toned jacket and then the subtlety of large blossomed flowers and childlike diamond drawings in a maxi dress. We welcomed high waisted trousers reminiscent of the seventies and chiffon blouse dresses that were subtle and delightful.
Lady Luck
Ladylike glamour reminiscent of decades ago was shown across the fashion houses at London Fashion Week. Miu Miu was set on stealing the show with amazing tea dresses on the catwalk with the fashion label championed the refined glamour of the 40′s. Grab a piece of the action from Net-A-Porter with this Embellished crepe dress (£2.485). Follow the trend and keep it vintage inspired with this nipped in waist, blouson sleeved, Printed Pussy Bow Dress from Oasis (£55). Simply exquisite is the Belted Midi Geo Print Dress available at A|Wear (£40) that is perfect for the office or for a refined lunch. As Elle’s Edit for A/W noted, the designers have hit the high street, classic Jonathan Saunders brings us ladylike silhouettes to his collection at Debenhams. In this dark blue trench dress (£68), from the edgy range of work dresses by Jonathan Saunders/EDITION, the up-and-coming designer translates the fitted tailoring of the classic trench coat to a feminine shift dress, with short cap sleeves, a double-breasted button fastening, a voluminous flared skirt and a contrasting black belt defining the waist. Pure ladylike style, we want it now!
Office Angels
When it comes to workwear its easy to stick to the city suit look or white shirt, black trouser combination that is deep rooted within the womenswear for the office that is available on the high street. But take it up a notch this Autumn/Winter, chiffon blouses and high waisted trousers are in. Pleats are the new look, and androgyny is big this season. We love the Sonia Rykiel Diamante studded silk -georgette blouse (£1,120) available at Net-A-Porter, whilst Oasis offer us the pleated mesh skirt (£35), just above the knee in sumptuous turquoise, a colour rarely tried in the office. It’s not the midi trend length but perfect for the office with a silk blouse or a long sleeve knit in contrasting colour. Whistles is our one stop shop for work wear. We love their tailoring and feminine take on the androgyny trend this season, try the Colour Block Blouse (£125) or the Gine Evening Trouser (£110) that are wide legged and high waisted and perfect for the office.
Red Hot
We’ve already featured the captivating colour of red and its various hues for Autumn/Winter with our feature “Red – One look, three budgets” . We’ve delved into the look books of the high street fashion labels to find the great ways to wear this trend this season. Warm up those colder days and inject some colour and style into your look. Burnt orange that is on the edge of the red remit for A/W Flannel A Line Skirt from Oasis (£35), reminiscent of the 60′s with two flat pockets at the front , get the opaque tights out now ladies! We love the River Island red zip detail shift dress, again a homage to the 60′s, this smart look perfect for the office or the weekend shopping with the girls. Still with River Island we loved this red suede envelope clutch bag, the fashion store has some great bags for the A/W season. Whilst A|Wear are making sure we’re wrapped up warm this season with this great red Maria Peter Pan collar coat (£75), very Kate Middleton!
