Avenue 32 – Sophie Hulme SS14

This week I am heading off to New York City and I cannot wait! It’s my first visit and it will be amazing. Tourism, fashion, food, adventures with friends. I’ve been putting off packing all week as it’s not my favourite pastime but one designer I wish I was packing away in my suitcase is British fashion designer Sophie Hulme.

A graduate of Kingston University, Sophie Hulme set up her own label in 2007 and her latest collection is available at Avenue 32. This season Sophie Hulme is all about the spots and stripes. I am loving her designs. Sophie uses hints of masculinity and hardware detailing to add a new dimension of toughness to feminine pieces. Her clutch bags have always been on my “must have” list and Sophie designs each piece to carry the brand’s philosophy of timeless and modern elegance.

It may not be stars and stripes, but Sophie Hulme’s polkadot spots and stripes for SS14 will be perfect for a capsule wardrobe for my New York trip. Here are my favourite picks from her collection.

Sophie Hulme SS14

  • Taupe Polka Cotton Trench Coat – the ultimate coat for a capsule wardrobe, a trench will see you from season to season
  • Burgundy Panelled Breton Top – I’ll be teaming this great Breton top (a favourite of mine) with a pair of skinny jeans for a weekend relaxing in the big city
  • Cream Silk Stripe Shorts – I’m loving these shorts; team with a navy tank and chunky necklace with wedges for a relaxed day look
  • Navy Polka Silk Workwear Playsuit – a great look with gladiator sandals for a lazy day walking around Central Park and grabbing a coffee
  • Navy Wool Dungaree Jumpsuit – from a day shopping on Madison Avenue to cocktails in the latest NYC bar; the perfect transition piece

Sophie Hulme has been named as a one of London’s brightest talents by the Telegraph, “Sophie Hulme proves that the Brits can do chic”. Sophie Hulme is an international fashion designer that promotes British design with a great ethos and that’s why I would love to wear her designs abroad and be proud to wear British fashion. .
