The Smoky-Eye Look In Three Simple Steps
Perfect for fun nights out, romantic nights in, weddings and events, the smoky-eye look is a classic and looks great on pretty much everyone.
1. Preparation
Like decorating your house or cooking a three-course meal, much of the success of the finished result depends on the preparation that you put in in the first place.
The same is definitely true for smoky eyes so before you begin remember to moisturise your lids and the area underneath your eyes. Then cover the same areas in a good quality primer. This will ensure that however smouldering your night gets, your smoky eyes won’t smudge or smear.
2. Application
The next step is the application. You’ll need a makeup pallet with shades varying from light to dark. Four colours are ideal, but you can get away with fewer if necessary.
Use the lightest colour as your base and brush it all over your lid, working it into the crease as you go. Then take your second lightest shade and brush it over the ball of your eye and up into the corners. This will be your main colour, so make sure it’s applied nice and smooth.
Next, take your second darkest shade and work it into the crease of your eyelid. The secret here is to ensure that each layer is properly blended. Keep working it in until you can’t see any clear differences between the shades.
Finally, with your darkest shade, dot the colour from your lashes to the crease of your eye. Blend it in thoroughly before dragging some colour along your lower lashes to compliment the top.
3. Finishing touches
Now that your eyes are ready to go, it’s time to think about the rest of your look. Use a lengthening mascara to accentuate your lashes and a curler to give them a glamorous touch.
For the best smoky-eyed look, it’s great to be contact lens or glasses free, so if your vision needs a little help, then you may want to consider laser eye surgery from reputable firms such as Optimax.
Once mastered, the smoky-eye look is a timeless classic that will see you looking fantastic on every occasion. So grab yourself some primer, eye shadows and brush – time to get smoking!
