Betty Jackson London Fashion Week 2011 A/W

When the invite came in the post for Betty Jackson at London Fashion Week, we knew we were in for a treat. There was something intriguing by the deep red of the invite & the floral frontage.

With Jo Wood, Jameela Jamil, Mel Blatt and Hilary Alexander on the front row at Betty Jackson, the show space full of anxious voyeurs, we were ready for the covers to come off and for a blast of Betty Jackson magic. We were not disappointed.

The Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection from Betty Jackson took focus on strong silhouettes and simple details. We cooed at the vibrant and rich colour palette of warm red tones showcased in an all in one jumpsuit of fleeced boiled wool, a simple full length skirt and brighter toned jacket and then the subtlety of large blossomed flowers and childlike diamond drawings in a maxi dress. We welcomed high waisted trousers reminiscent of the seventies and chiffon blouse dresses that were subtle and delightful.

Next onto the cool neutrals and seductive textures of luxurious alpacas and ragged wooly lace. Betty took the palette of blood, tomato and brick mixed with neutrals such as putty, albino and mist to dictate the strength of this season’s prints.

“The woollen knitwear holds differing weights within one garment, giving great texture and graphic interest, whilst the cashmere offers a light, lustrous sensuality”. Betty Jackson

This show presented strong key pieces for the modern female and was desirable, practical and delightful.
