DAREcember | with Fox in Flats

I have to admit that I am a little obsessed with Instagram. I love to see my favourite fashionistas styling out amazing outfits, travel shots from around the world and yes, I even check out who is eating amazing food for dinner. It is a daily check for me, one of my social media habits.

When I stumbled across #DAREcember, I was intrigued. I love a styling challenge and with all the countdowns to Christmas and advent calendars, it’s nice to mark the days in a different way. #DAREcember is a great challenge set by Australian blogger team Fox in Flats. Over the three years they have been on a series of Style Dares and each December the year peaks with a month long Style Dare.

The challenge is to rock a different Style Dare every day, following the #DAREcember infographic. It’s a great way to plan your outfits for the month, to push your boundaries and for me, it means not wearing the same thing to work week in week out. It has been a challenge and it’s been fun.

So how have I got on so far? Here is day 1 to 12 of the #DAREcember challenge with a little info of what I have styled along the way.

DAREcember

Day 1. Stacked up
This is all about taking cuffs, bracelets, bangles, watches and stacking them up. I teamed two different Stella & Dot bracelets, a heidi klein bracelet and Bella Jane Jewellery silver angel bracelet. Simple, colourful.

Day 2. Braided
Not a style I’d normally sport. So I went for a little plait, at the front of my side parting. A simple look for the day at the office.

Day 3. To the max
Now Fox in Flats is an Australian blog. So maxi dresses are order of the day in December. But for us Brits, not so much – so I went to the max in an oversized winter coat from La Redoute.

Day 4. Orange kisses
A super chic look that was seen on the catwalk previously at fashion month. But I am not a lipstick fan. Neither had I stocked up on an orange hue. So I used the Makeup Genius App by L’Oréal Paris to get my orange kisses. Learn more about it here.

Day 5. Double denim
Ok so this is a trend we have seen for a while. Dare you do it? I did with a Peter Pan collar denim shirt from La Redoute and Max Skinny black jeans. Darker colours are slimming if you are going to test out this trend.

Day 6. Gold
Luckily enough I got my nails done on day 6, at Beauté in Tunbridge Wells. So I went for gold glitter nails using Gelish for a sparkle to set me up for Christmas.

Day 7. Beachy
Again, since it’s hovering around zero in the UK at the moment, I took a flashback moment for this day. A quick outfit post at Hove beach in East Sussex.

Day 8. In the wild
Now I love a little bit of leopard print. Obviously in the right way. I teamed Boden blue leopard print bistro crop trousers with La Redoute’s burgundy leopard print flat pumps.

Day 9. All black
I thought I wore a lot of black but now I realise I don’t really own any black tops. So I styled black Mint Velvet jeans with a Mint Velvet patterned top and H&M Faux leather and bouclé jacket.

Day 10. Pinned on
Rather than go for the popular antique brooch instagram shot, I decided to go with a necklace from Phase Eight to pin on to my World (NZ) blouse,

Day 11. His
This day is all about stealing your man’s style. Well all I could think would work was his Trump Soho New York Slippers!

Day 12. Brightest
Now bright I can do. I love brights. I teamed a Pure Collection Cashmere Raglan Sweater in mint with a pink butterfly scarf from ScarfWorld.com.

Thanks to Fox in Flats for setting this challenge.  You can follow Fox in Flats on Instagram here and keep up with my progress here.
