Feeling Glamorous this Summer – Plus Size Advice
During the summer months you should be able to feel glamorous and look good without encountering problems, this season isn’t about size 0s and skeletons but about curvaceous ladies that are plus size perfect. The focus of this season is to dress for your shape rather than your size; consider the type of figure that you possess and dress accordingly. If you happen to own clothes that don’t do anything at all for your figure, get rid of them!
Underwear before Outerwear
Before you can take into consideration your outfit and outerwear, think about your underwear! Throughout the autumn/winter seasons, when you begin to wear a larger amount of layers or thicker fabrics/materials we can often forget about our figures and the way that our bodies are shaped.
However, once the warmer weather comes around we drop the layers and replace them with lighter materials such as cottons and linens; due to this our body and our shape becomes clear. Whilst you’re out shopping visit your local lingerie department and request to have your bust measured, the way you cater for your bust can have a striking effect on the way that your clothes sit on upon your frame.
Dressing for your Figure
If you consider yourself to be pear shaped, you needn’t worry as there are numerous methods of concealing your curves and drawing attention away from your abdomen. Clothing that detracts attention from your waist and directs it to your thinner, upper half is ideal and can be achieved through the use of v neck tops and blouses that incorporate delicate designs, such as intricate floral patterns.
Belts and accessories are superb for enhancing a rounder, apple shaped figure. The belt works by breaking your shape up into smaller segments; giving the illusion of a slimmer, well-proportioned shape. The belt can also be tightened to obscure your outline and enhance your curves. Accessories such as long pendants can be used to draw attention away from your figure and towards your bust and jaw line; if you’ve had your bust measured correctly this method can be most flattering.
Prints and Posture
Staying cool whilst drawing attention away from your least favourite features, for example, your legs, doesn’t have to be a difficult task; maxi dresses and long skirts will shelter your legs from view and also improve the look of your posture. Prints that should be avoided when choosing your outfit include horizontal stripes and checkers; horizontal stripes give the impression of a wider, fuller figure where there may not be one, and checkers are demanding on the eye.
Whether you’re a plus size or size 0, remember that you are glamorous too and should dress to impress yourself, not others; if you’re at war with your wardrobe treat yourself to something new.
