Get your swish on – Swishing In Aid of Women for Women, Tunbridge Wells Event
Kent based online retail store Yours Sustainably and LadyM Presents have come together to organise a fun evening of fashion and swishing to raise money for the charity, Women For Women. To be held at the new stylish bar in Tunbridge Wells, Bar Code on Wednesday 19th June during “A Good Week” celebrating a movement around all the Good that happens in the world.
The evening to be held at Bar Code, 99-101 Mount Pleasant Road will include the opportunity to swish (clothes swap!), browse stalls from local designers, beauty, lifestyle and fashion companies and purchase tickets for the exciting raffle to be drawn at the end of the evening.
Throughout the evening there will be Trend Talks from local stylist, Lynne Meek of Styling Matters, Lynn Gray of Mavala Nails, Viktoria Kohl make up artist and the opportunity to get your hair styled for summer in a fab up-do!
The evening is in aid of the charity Women for Women, an international charity that works with socially excluded women in eight war torn countries. With your support the team hope to raise enough money to be able to enrol at least one woman in Women For Women’s one-year programme, where she will learn job skills and receive business training so she can earn a living and move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency.
The team from Yours Sustainably and LadyM Presents look forward to sharing this exciting evening of fashion in support of this worthwhile women’s charity.
Tickets are available via Eventbrite for £6 and must be purchased before the evening. Come along and join us for a lot of fun, fashion and a glass of wine!
Please note: clothes should be clean and in good condition. Due to limited to space please bring a maximum of four items to exchange. Hangers and a changing room will be provided at the event.
Yours Sustainably
Yours Sustainably is an online store selling ethically sourced fashion and home accessories from around the world. Launched in 2011 by mother and daughter team, Lynn and Jessica, it aims to promote positive consumerism by offering a wide range of stylish and innovative products, each fulfilling at least one criteria of being fair trade, eco-friendly or recycled. Customers can learn the story of each product through dedicated supplier pages, guest blogs and interviews, which makes Yours Sustainably more than just a shopping destination but also a source of information on sustainable living and the inspiring stories behind the brands they support. Part of Yours Sustainably’s company ethos is to organise and involve themselves in charitable and fundraising activities. Last year they were part of Find Your Feet’s ‘Curry for Change’ event which saw them awarded the prize of a curry master class with Anjali Patak due to their outstanding fundraising efforts.
Women for Women
Women for Women International works with socially excluded women in eight countries where war and conflict have devastated lives and communities. They enrol women in a one-year programme, here they learn job skills and receive business training so they can earn a living, and move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency, thereby promoting viable civil societies. The programmes are organised into three stages as women increase their access to resources and knowledge: stage one creates awareness of women’s rights and societal roles; stage two promotes behaviour change by encouraging women to make decisions, use knowledge and take advantage of economic opportunities; stage three enables action by providing support and access to essential services such as loans, legal assistance, social networks and employment opportunities.
Through the programmes women become confident, independent and productive, embracing their importance in rebuilding their families, their communities and ultimately their nations. The outcomes are beneficial to women and society as a whole: Women for Women believe that lasting change can only be achieved when women have access to both knowledge and resources.
