LadyM Meets Haley Titus
This week in my LadyM Meets interview series, I continue to find amazingly talented and inspiring creatives via Instagram. I got wrapped up in the world of fashion and art when I stumbled across Haley Titus’ instagram account Colour Me Classic. Captivated by an image with an amazing background that I realised had been painted on, Haley is a style blogger who paints on photos and I just had to find out more about her.
LadyM Meets Haley Titus
Haley Titus is a designer based in Northern California. Specializing in identity, branding, web, signage and packaging. She also has an awesome style blog Colour Me Classic which has been inspiring others to make the most of our their wardrobes since 2012. Haley loves colour, pattern and type so she has combined this with her brilliant style selections to make beautiful photos that she showcases through her blog and her instagram account.
I emailed over to Haley my standard interview questions, she is the second American blogger to join the LadyM Meets list so I was very keen to hear her side of the style story.
Q.How would you describe what you do?
A. I’m a business owner of a photography studio where we hold workshops. I’m a freelance graphic designer, I design blogs and logos. I also work full time for a presentation design company called Duarte. In any of the given categories, I’m trying to solve a problem with creative thinking and push new ideas out into the world.
Q. What encouraged you to get into this industry and what was your route into it?
A. I have always loved graphic design. So I constantly have my ear to the ground searching for the latest color palettes, trends and patterns. I noticed street style would often influence my design choices. I decided to open my blog in 2012.
Q. What is a typical working day for you?
A. Wake up, respond to email. Make breakfast, Start my 9-5 job, working from home.
Through the day I’ll be working with my art director to create animations and graphics for some of the top 50 brands in the world. After work I’ll do a blog photoshoot or painting.
Q. Where are you based, how much of an inspiration is your city and what are your favorite cities around the world?
A. I’m based in Sacramento, California. I adore my city very much. It is an up and coming place. You can feel the energy around this hub. The community here has given me a platform to be experimental with fashion.
Q. Have you seen the fashion industry change in the last few years? Have you had to adapt?
A. I notice there is a big movement towards “slow fashion” with the rise of cheap clothing and the collapse of many factors like the one in Bangladesh. People are interesting in wearing clothes that will last from companies who care about the planet and give back to the world in the some way.
Q. What’s the most rewarding part of your work? What is your greatest accomplishment so far?
A. The most rewarding part is being able to collaborate with other creatives painters, photographers, designers, artist and makers. It is also a great feeling to see your work finished and put out into the world, like a website, logo, package, etc.
Q. What is next for you? What are your goals for 2016?
A. My goals for 2016 are to start working primarily with professional photographers. To explore further with my painting techniques. To create more focused and engaging blog content.
Bonus Question – if you didn’t do the job you do now – what would be your dream job and where?
A. I would love to be life coach. I love hearing about people’s goals and helping them formulate a plan of action. Seeing others succeed truly makes me happy.
