House of Fraser AW13 Press Day
A rainy afternoon in London couldn’t have been more apt for an Autumn/Winter press day- despite the fact that it was May and supposedly Summer is on the way. It was rather exciting to arrive at the House of Fraser head office in Baker Street. I was whizzed several floors up in the press day dedicated lift and greeted by fabulous staff. The House of Fraser building used to be an apartment building and they kept the top two floors as apartments to use as showrooms. What a genius idea.
My insight into the AW13 collection started with homeware. I got to explore the House of Fraser apartment that was complete with two bedrooms, an ensuite bathroom, the cutest, most inviting kitchen with bright red accessories and a living room area with so many pretty pieces. Beds adorned with bedding, linens and comforters from the linea, Pied A Tierre and Shabby Chic ranges. There was a Gatsby feel decadent black and gold bedroom that wowed me first off;
Next I had a tranquil walk through the living room with minimalist whites, creams and French chic detailing such as stacked vintage style suitcases, beautiful flowers in vases

Bright and bold bathroom accessories, towels and detailing from linea looked fresh and inviting in a white ensuite bathroom
Purples, deep reds, calming and inviting opulent colours seemed the colourways of the season for interiors. Think French chic with a rich, opulent edge to make a warm, yet calming home.
Womenswear & Accessories AW13
Hot corals, bold magenta, cobalt blue and feather detailing are the key trends for accessories this Autumn/Winter. So many lovely shoulder bags, clutches and purses to covet. I’d also love to show off and store my collection in the style below in my house – how fab would that be!
Here are a few one my favourite outfit picks from the womenswear collection. Spanning Mary Portas’ collection , Biba, Ted Baker, across to Episode, Karen Millen, and Miu Miu. Mix dark midnight blue and black with poker red and striking white for an Autumn/Winter collection to wear with style.
My must have from the collection is this cute and funky casual bomber jacket from Episode. I can’t wait for the July drop in store.
It’s so much nicer to see clothes and collections in real life. To feel the textures, wonder at the colour palette and see what accessories work with which looks. As much as I love browsing new seasons collections online, through look books and seeing the catwalk shows; nothing beats the reality of a press day to really get you struck in to a new season. Now how about nabbing this magenta Ted Baker clutch?
