International Personal Trainer Aimee Stevens: FIT 2012 Week 6

Last week was a tough week. As a fashion editor the events I get to attend are pretty spectacular, as well as the fabulous fashion content, they are accompanied with a side order of champagne served all evening and canapés swirling the room. My training is all about strength and resistance, this is resistance of another kind – saying no to the lovely canapés on offer and sticking to just one glass of bubbly.

FIT 2012: Week 6

Biosignature Modulation testing is a regular part of my training with Aimee Stevens, my personal trainer based at The Gym in Tunbridge Wells. This means there is a focus every fortnight to get better results than the previous test so resisting those canapés and treats can be a bit easier. Plus I’m recording my eating habits in a food diary – if it has to go on paper and be scrutinised, you’re more likely to eat healthily and stick to the focus your trainer has given you, mine being protein. Read more about Biosignature Modulation testing here. I have my next bodyfat % testing this week, fingers crossed for positive results!

Since I have a ongoing shoulder problem, Aimee has assessed how far we can push it and last week we focused on the lower body and core to give my shoulder a bit of a break. It’s important to find a personal trainer who will focus on the areas you want to work on as well as strengthening any weak areas. Aimee is great at mixing up my weekly programme to balance out my training.

The Gym, Tunbridge Wells

This Week

  • I’ve been deadlifting 43kg
  • Doing raised heel squats for a more effective workout (with 20kg weight)
  • Sprinting with 40kg on a sled – it makes sprints without weights seem amazingly easy
  • Kettle Bell windmills in a pyramid formation upping the reps, lowering the reps
  • Sneaky lunges – with a weight vest on, deep, low strides in stealth mode!!
  • Hyperextensions were not my friend – 25 in a row = tough with shooting pains in the lower back
  • Post Workout protein shakes are a must (low carb versions)

Training with Aimee is hard work, it hurts at the time – but the great thing is, it never hurts the next day so I know my body is getting stronger and I’m getting good results.

Aimee holds a 30 minute 3D Abs class at The Gym on a Tuesday Evening at 7pm – get those bikini and swim short perfect abs in time for your holiday and then maintain them year round.
