LadyM Meets | Aimee Rose
In the last few months I’ve been introduced to some amazing women in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle industries. It is always lovely to meet like minded individuals who have a real passion for their careers and love what they are doing.
So this week I am relaunching my interview series with a new concept, “LadyM Meets” and first up with Aimee Rose from fashion blog www.aimazin.com. Aimee Rose is a writer, stylist and blogger living and working in London in an industry that is hard to break in to and this girl has done good!
Considering that Aimee works in the fashion industry, she is a rare gem, as she has just graduated from Kings College London with BA In Arts of Religion, Philosophy and Ethics – amazing! Aimee’s blog Aimazin.com was launched to share her fantastic wardrobe, to inspire like minded women and one of her passions is combining high street finds with designer fashion, showing her readers how best to mix it up and style out great outfits.
Q. What encouraged you to get into this industry and what was your route into it?
I’ve always had a love for fashion and been recognised for my style. For this reason. I did numerous fashion internships, exploring different areas of fashion. It was while I was studying my degree at Kings College London, I noticed the recognition I received over social media for my style which is what gave me the incentive to start a blog. I set up the blog in my last year of studying as a platform into fashion. However, after graduating I put all my focus into my blog, which has now ended up becoming a full time job!
Q. What is a typical working day for you?
My day usually starts with a morning workout, followed by a bunch of emails and research into brands. Depending on the day I will then go out to shoot outfit posts, meet clients for potential collaborations or pop into fashion showrooms, this is usually followed by industry events. What is solid in my diary, however, is my weekly meeting with my agent where we discuss business ventures, usually over lunch at the restaurant which has invited me to review them that week. Definitely one of my favourite days of the week!
Q. Where are you based, how much of an inspiration is your city and what are your favourite cities around the world?
I am based in London. I take so much inspiration from where I live, I really do believe we are one of the best dressed cities. I think it’s important to take inspiration from your surroundings especially other people. For instance, how someone has put an outfit together or an item someone is wearing. I also gain inspiration from locations, which is why I put so much thought into where I shoot my outfit posts. I find it all very inspirational. I am biased, London to me is the best city in the world, New York would come close second.
Q. Have you seen the fashion industry change in the last few years? Have you had to adapt?
I think the fashion industry has adapted in terms of its strong online and social media presence, which falls in line with the importance of blogger relationships. This luckily is only beneficial to me.
Q. What’s the most rewarding part of your work? What is your greatest accomplishment so far?
The most rewarding part of my work is seeing my blog grow, a brands satisfaction with collaboration and my followers positive engagement activity. So far my greatest accomplishment is collaborating with Reiss, a great British transitional brand.
Q. What is next for you? What are your goals for 2015?
Next, I am introducing vlogging and fitness concepts to my blog. For 2015 I want to develop my style consultancy services, travel more and watch my business grow.
Bonus Question – if you didn’t do the job you do now – what would be your dream job and where?
This is my dream job along with personal styling. I would say my dream is to become more established and recognised in the industry for what I do over the years to come.
You can see Aimee’s great styling tips, trends and looks on her fashion blog and follow her on Twitter and Instagram. I know I certainly will be, we love her style here at LadyM Presents.
