LFW AW13 – Fashion Scout Lug Von Siga
This season we started London Fashion Week AW13 at Fashion Scout. Formerly Vauxhall Fashion Scout; this is the “go to” collection of shows for up and coming designers. Taking place at the Freemason’s Hall off Drury Lane, it’s the second hub of London Fashion Week.
Lug Von Siga was our first show and introduction to Autumn/Winter 13. With heavy orchestral strings playing in background this felt like the scene of a murder mystery and the collection had an edgy 1940′s feel. We could have been in the high society of Hercule Poirot’s time with a murder around the corner. Down the catwalk came thick felts and silk crepe in cream and black, shown in suits and overcoats with felt and faux fur trilby hats setting off the outfits. Models sported elbow length black leather gloves with their skirt suits and dresses to add that touch of uber elegance.
Every now and then there was a touch of sparkle but not from embellishment. Textures came from embossed felts and panelling of foiled leather. After a wave of dove grey swept the catwalk it was now time for a dash of colour. Magenta is the colour of Autumn/Winter, which is fab as I love it! Mixed tastefully with darker grey, Von Siga showed great tailoring. The only colour to be seen in the monochrome, muted palette, it really worked well. But then wait for it…. It felt like we were back at the Olympics. Gold burst onto the scene in a bold suit, again finished off with black leather gloves. It featured again in a gold lame under the knee skirt worn with a sheer organza black top and finished off with a black felt hat.
There was something very wholesome about the collection; luxury, without being over the top. An opulence with the magenta and gold without the need for embellishment. Ladylike glamour with some manly tailoring. Sleeveless shirts featured heavily, also with sleeveless jackets but the overcoat won the day, mixing grey with magenta is a great way of warming up the season. A very well rounded and complete collection from Turkish designer, Lug Von Siga.
