Holiday Maxi Dress | Kaleidoscope Blogger Expert

I love this time of year. I got to spend a bit of time in the garden at the weekend, I walked to my friends for her first bridesmaid dress try on and generally got excited that the weather is warmer and the days are longer.

This week I’ve already talked about my summer holiday plans and capsule holiday wardrobe which you can read here. I mentioned the maxi dress as one of my key pieces to take with you on holiday. I just love a maxi and the Bead Trim Maxi dress from Kaleidoscope is fantastic. I love that it is embellished. It means that you don’t need to pack chunky necklaces to wear with it for day or for night. The blue is a fun print and it’s very cooling to wear.

I styled it with the Together Suede Wedge shoe which I think look very Duchess of Cambridge. Remember her LK Bennett wedges from last summer? They are lovely the perfect colour to compliment the dress, whilst giving some height without heels that don’t work on a hot summers day. Bye bye stiletto, hello wedge.

No summer look is complete without a pair of sunglasses. I sported these Round Sunglasses from Kaleidoscope during a recent trip to Spain. You might have seen me rocking a breton stripe with them on instagram. They are a little retro, remind me of Don Draper and give a little masculine edge to the maxi dress ultra feminine look.

Kaleidoscope asked me for a bit of holiday fashion advice; here’s our little Q&A this month:

Q. Do you have any styling advice to keep us feeling body confident in the sun?

Earlier this year I had my first spray tan and I have to say that it really boosted my confidence when I was out by the pool in my bikini in Hawaii. Just having a natural looking glow will boost your body confidence. Secondly, choose a bikini or one piece that suits your body shape. Don’t just go with trends for fashion sakes; know what works for you and you will feel fabulous.

Q. Which staple clothing items do you take on holiday year after year?

It has to be a maxi dress, cropped leather jacket and wedges. You can have this as a day look for cocktails at the beach bar (without the jacket of course) and can easily transition to the restaurant later in the evening. Plus maxi’s usually roll up really easily to make packing super quick.

Q. We always leave our holiday packing to the last minute, it’s such a nightmare! Do you have any top luggage packing tips?

My top tip is to pack at least three days before. Work out your outfits day by day and through in a few extra. Then the day before you leave – unpack everything and remove at least three items of clothing and a pair of shoes. Do you really need five pairs of shoes? No. Taking a fresh pair of eyes on your selection will really help build a capsule holiday wardrobe.

Where are you jetting off to this summer? What is your must have item for the beach?
