Narciso Rodriguez | Avenue 32
Spring has sprung and I can finally start writing about all the fabulous SS14 collections I have been privy to since September last year. Key trends we saw at London Fashion Week and filtering out into the fashion stores this season; Monochrome, brights (we’re talking emerald green, burnt orange, fuchsia pink) and jackets and tops are sleeveless this season.

There’s a great sense of empowerment in this season’s collections and Elle UK focused on the designers that “were on a mission to inspire us into clothes that make bold statements about who we are or who we want to be”. One designer that definitely empowers me and just makes me want to wear everything from his collection to the office is Narciso Rodriguez. He studied at the famous Parsons School of Design before freelancing in New York, then he joined Anne Klein under the guidance of Donna Karan before moving on to Calvin Klein and Cerruti.
Narciso has blossomed into an amazing designer since launching his first ready-to-wear collection in 1997. He knows the woman he wants to design for and has amazing tailoring skills. In this feature I am picking my favourite pieces from his Pre-Fall 2013 collection available at Avenue 32, but they work superbly well as we transcend into SS14.
Black for summer, well why not? It’s a mainstay base colour and easy to dress up and power up with a burst of colour. I love the reversible Print Sleeveless Top from Narciso Rodriquez. A black and white jacquard wool knit top with an architectural cut and jacquard-effect intarsia knit. Perfect for teaming with a bright pink or cobalt blue pencil skirt and complimentary suede stilettos for the ultimate power meeting at the office.
If you’re looking for your mainstay piece of your SS14 capsule wardrobe then pick a bold colour. Liven up your wardrobe with a piece you can dress up and dress down this season. Such as this Teal Scoop Neck Dress. Team with amazing statement jewellery and high heels for that date at the cocktail bar, or work with stylish leather stilettos and your classic Mulberry bag for an smart office look.
Ultra-modern sheath dresses and perfectly cut pencil dresses are given the clean, minimalist treatment by Narciso and I just love the simplicity of the White Pleated Jacquard dress. Narciso is known for his fresh, tonal palette and I would just love to wear this dress to a summer event. The sleek jersey fabric creates enviable shape and I’d keep the look simple with a tan wedge, a pop of colour in an oversized fuchsia pink clutch and extra large sunglasses.
You can shop the Narciso Rodriquez collection at Avenue 32.
