Pantone Colour of the Year 2016 | In the home

It’s that time of year again. The release of the “colour of the year” from leaders in colour, Pantone. Last year it was Marsala, a deep earthy red and one of my last purchases of 2015, was a gorgeous Marsala toned jewelled top from Esprit. For the first time, a blending of two colours has been chosen as the Colour Of The Year 2016 by Pantone: Rose Quartz & Serenity.

I love the thought process behind the colour selection. The two shades are paired together to express feelings related to mindfulness & well-being, perfect for a fresh start to the new year. These colours ooze elements of calm, relaxation, reassurance, security, order and peace.

Pantone Colour of the Year 2016

“Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.” Pantone.

I have made a selection of a few key pieces that allow you to embrace these colours and bring them into your home. I don’t think they are overpowering colours and are perfect for a sense of lightness as we head towards Spring. Uplift your home with an softness from the pale tones of Rose Quartz (PANTONE 13-1520 ) and the calming influence of Serenity ( PANTONE 15-3919). You don’t have to combine the two at once but they do blend together well.
