Paul Smith opens new London store
Just as fashion month is turning its attention to London Fashion Week, held at Somerset House and various glamorous locations around the city. We have heard on the fashion grapevine that this month Paul Smith also opens a new store in London’s Mayfair.
The fantastic fashion destination at 9 Albemarle Street is a significantly extension to the pre-existing Paul Smith shop on the corner of Albemarle and Stafford Street. The new space expands into the neighbouring building and will sell mens and womens clothing and furniture, as well as a selection of special pieces and one-off designs.

The building is truly beautiful and reminds me of a Parisien building with an exterior featuring a bespoke, cast iron panelled facade and balustrade set against distinctive black painted walls. Everything Paul Smith does is well thought out, tailored and glamourous and his new store is no different. What I like is that the facade discreetly incorporates Paul’s hand drawings, combining the entrenched architectural traditions of the local vicinity with the modernity of the Paul Smith aesthetic.
There are three key areas in the store – the womens area feels very elegant, taking on board an element of Mayfair’s rich art history and the shoe department; well over 30,000 dominoes adorn the walls. Pretty funky.
Menswear department is all about modern and masculine – organic wood mixing with bronze furniture, black steel. It couldn’t be more bachelor pad.
The rest of the space will constantly evolve and change as it will contain unique and unexpected treasures; some original pieces and some that have been given a new lease of life with a Paul Smith fabric.
Make sure you take a visit to the new Paul Smith store to obviously see the fabulous Paul Smith collections but also to experience the fantastic concept store.
