South of France Capsule Wardrobe – Inspiration from Uniprice
This week I booked my summer holiday – Cannes here we come and I’ve already been thinking about the South of France wardrobe I need to rustle up. Of course there are some style essentials that I already have to build a capsule wardrobe around. But I will be needing a few new pieces from this season to style up and I know just the place to hunt them down.
Although St Tropez, Nice and Antibes might be super fabulous and super expensive it doesn’t mean my summer wardrobe has to be. So I took a few hours to browse the Uniprice website to find some great pieces at even greater prices. Uniprice is an online shopping emporium of global brands but at fabulous prices. Uniprice compare prices and therefore give the best price from all those stores online for the pieces you are looking for and then send you on your way there to buy them, just from the click of a button.
Plus what I love about progressive online stores these days is that they are not just about shopping. They know that they need to keep us gals interested; so there is the latest news on fashion, gadgets and sports and some celebrity goss, designer profiles and a dab of beauty too, to make your shopping experience engaging and all the more interesting.
Uniprice covers womenswear, menswear and childrenswear and a designer and brands list longer than my fashion week invitation wish list! I decided to set myself a mission. To build that capsule wardrobe for my trip to the South of France – budget £250, six key pieces to buy and no repetition on trends. So here’s how I got on….
The Bikini
Now I can quite easily have spent £150+ on a bikini alone; from Missoni or Roberto Cavalli, but my shopping sense kicked in and instead I fell for the Esprit Acapulco Print Padded Bandeau Bikini Top and Hipster Tie Briefs (available at ASOS).
A touch on the tropical side, perfect for a sunny day by the pool but a little bit different from the colour block swimwear that is so popular these days. TREND – FLORAL
The Shoes
Wedges are my summer shoe of choice. Comfortable, a bit of height without the pain of high heels, bright colours and stylish with any outfit. Wear with a summer dress, shorts, skinny jeans, cropped chinos, or just a bikini. My pick here is the Lucky Brand Espadrille Platform Wedges, in Lainey – a gorgeous minty, pistachio ice cream green, available at Bloomingdales. TREND – ICE CREAM HUES
The Dress
The Maxi Dress is one style that has not gone out of fashion. Perfect for relaxing in on holiday; for travelling around the city, for early evening sundowner drinks or a weekend lunch with the family. This horizontal stripe maxi dress from Izabel London is also a bargain, so i’m well on the way to being within my summer holiday budget but I know I can wear this dress in numerous ways; layered up with a cute colour block cardi and gladiator sandals or styled up with a cropped leather jacket and heels. Not bad for £7! TREND – MONOCHROME
The Bag
Bag selections for your holiday can be a tricky one – you need an overall bag that you can have on the plane, travelling around the city, then one for the beach, one for the evening, do you need a clutch? Should you just take an all rounder? The Fiorelli Hope Multiway Grab Handbag is perfect.
Big enough for your travel essentials on the plane or on the train; big enough for your guidebook, sunglasses and city essentials. But smart enough and not too big for that dinner out in the Piazza or cocktails in the hotel bar. TREND – WHITE
The Jacket
I always wish I could pack for a holiday without a jacket. Guaranteed sunshine, night time temperatures not getting below 17 degrees. But lets face it; unless you’re all inclusive in the Maldives, it’s unlikely to happen. So a little denim jacket goes a long way on a holiday without taking up too much essential packing space. I’d wear mine on the plane to take the chill off fro the air con as its easy to slip off when you get to your holiday destination.
I like this Vero Moda Tapestry Front Denim Jacket from ASOS. It’s a little different, a little country and western. TREND – AMERICANA
The Accessory
One accessory you cannot do without on holiday is a pair of sunglasses. This can really be one of those purchases that can take some time. Do you go with the latest trends or a classic? Something to suit your hair colour, face shape and style or something to stand out from the crowd.
These printed round sunglasses from French Connection are fabulous. Pink tortoiseshell, distinctive without being too brash – and I have change from my £250 budget – woohoo! TREND – 60′s
