St Albans Fashion Week 2014
Last year I had the great pleasure of sitting FROW at the longest indoor catwalk show in the UK. St Albans Fashion Week’s catwalk show had the beautiful St Albans Cathedral as home to it’s 30 metre runway. Now you can see why it would be the longest catwalk! It was a great setting for a fantastic collection of fashion and this year it’s back, bigger and even better.
St Albans Fashion Week runs from 27th October 2014 to 2nd November and this year I will be attending the Luxury Wedding Catwalk Show and champagne reception at the beautiful Hatfield House. I’ll be reporting back, post-event, hopefully with a whole host of beautiful ideas for my own wedding.
St Albans Fashion Week
As well as the wedding catwalk show there is an amazing amount of fabulous fashion occurring throughout St Albans Fashion Week. Created by the fabulous Ellena Ophira from Style in my City, the week long event hosts fashion and beauty events throughout the stylish city of St Albans.

Organiser and founder Ellena Ophira, director of events and consultancy company Style in my City, says: “I’m so proud that we have three shows this year. The climax of the week will still be Cathedral Catwalk, which will focus on high street fashion, young talent and local designers, but each show will be a spectacle in its own right with its own unique style, atmosphere and ambiance. I want to showcase the incredible fashion and beauty and young and local talent we have on our doorstep and give St Albans a week that people will never forget.”
There will be a 1930′s themed Luxe Fashion Show with live swing band and Martini Bar (hello!) at the Porsche Centre, Hatfield. Elegance and sophistication will be the theme on the evening on Monday 27 October, as cocktail dresses, tailored tuxes and beautiful lingerie are modelled in the Luxe Fashion Show. It sounds like a truly luxurious evening!
The Creative Next Generation is an event to note. This is where the ones to watch will be, a new initiative to “unearth, nurture and promote burgeoning new fashion talent with masterclasses.a presence in the catwalk show and a Young Designer of the Year award for design students and graduates.” St Albans Fashion Week Press Team.
I love events like this, having been a judge at Young Designer of the Year Awards myself. The judges for this event include none other than Julia Yule, executive fashion and beauty editor at Glamour, and Ann-Kathrin Schubert from Matthew Williamson. The cream of the crop!
Also during the week there will be a styling seminar and high tea run by John Lewis, a charity swap shop, pop up beauty and hair stations and a pop up barbers and bar. The event is held during half term week and will include some fun workshops for children.
