Swimwear with a retro twist – Pistol Panties
The sunshine is finally here and it got me thinking about swimwear. Recently I’ve been testing out bikinis and updating my summer swimwear wardrobe but something new dropped into my inbox and I had to investigate more.
There is something about a vintage style swimming costume that reminds me of fun summers messing around in the paddling pool but also makes me dream of spending the day at the beach in Cannes like Grace Kelly’s rival in To Catch a Thief.
So the best place to live up to those hazy summer dreams is by heading to Pistol Panties for “Swimwear inspired by the curvy pin-up girls of the 50′s with a modern twist”.
I was instantly drawn to this sumptuous green cheetah print one piece, (also available in potent purple) – seen in June 2nd Sunday Times Style magazine and one of THE prints of the summer. Go a little wild at the pool and be bold. I love the panelled body and wide halterneck straps, instant vintage glamour – no spaghetti straps here.
There’s something truly mesmerizing about the Bubble Spot swimsuit too. I love a pattern that is a little different and this gives you colour without being too “on trend” with the colour blocking we have seen so much of this season already.
My third pick from the Pistol Panties one piece collection really lets you channel the ultimate in retro chic. Think Jane Fonda dancing around the edge of the pool, sunbathing in St Tropez – with the Coffee Peacock one piece.
A bold pattern with a twist detail and low plunge neckline. What a tan you will get wearing this – just don’t be doing lengths in the local lido!
