The Modern Art of Coffee
This week I learnt a new skill. Calligraphy, but no ordinary letter art, this was #coffeegraphy. Hosted by NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto®, I joined several fabulous fashion and lifestyle, food and beauty bloggers for an evening of fun with coffee.
The evening introduced us to two new coffee machines from NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto®, the Oblo and the Jovia. Both use the pod technology to produce their coffees (and teas) but they also give you the opportunity to produce “coffee-shop style coffee” in your own home. As you should know by now I have a massive obsession with coffee; mostly loving the Cortado and Skinny Cappuccino from NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto®.
We had a great little lesson all about the pod technology and how it works; even seeing inside, which I have been longing to do for a while to understand just how it all works! The coffee is freshly roasted and ground and packed into a vacuum sealed pod so the coffee is outstandingly fresh. NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto machines use a crucial level of brewing pressure – up to a maximum 15 bar pump pressure for the technically minded, to consistently create delicious coffees from bean to cup similar to what you would get in a coffee shop and with secret patent gizmos inside the pod to get that crema style topping you get from your barista!

So what’s this all about writing with coffee then? The fabulous Chiara Lisa from Lamplighter London, is a modern day calligraphist and she showed us the ropes. It was back to school for us, with tracing paper and guides to follow and it really was super fun. I started to get the hang of it eventually, you have to ease into it slowly, move with your breathing and its all rather therapeutic and soothing actually.
Who knew you could write with coffee! It’s certainly inspired a new hobby in me and as we sipped pink prosecco and chatting away it was a really super fun evening.
Introducing Oblo and Jovia
Drawing on its experience in designing the most stylish machines, coffee expert NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® is launching these two new machines, each with a unique look appealing to different styles. The Oblo and Jovia pod machines are available in up to four stylish colours to suit every taste, and make over 30 hot and cold drinks giving variety and convenience in the home. Simply fabulous, mess free, and stylish. I still favour the cherry red, just the same as my near retro NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto®. It draws the eye in the kitchen to a great centre point, and you will be the pick of your friends for coffee mornings from now on!
The new NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® Oblo is stylish in its simplicity, bringing a colourful and fresh addition to the range. Available in four style-savvy colours including Piano Black, chic White, on-trend Orange and Cherry Red, it will create a focal point in your kitchen, captivating friends when they pop round for a casual coffee or when you’re serving espresso at the end of a dinner party.
The new NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® Jovia is chic and cute with its rounded design. Available in a palette of three colours including statement Cherry Red, Piano Black and on-trend White, the Jovia brings a contemporary twist to any kitchen, delighting in taste as much as in appearance.
We did a little three word personality test to work out which machine we were suited to and no surprise that the Jovia suited us stylish, fashionable, creative types in the room!
NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® Oblo and Jovia are available nationwide, from selected retailers only, priced at RRP £89.99 NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® Pods are available from supermarkets and www.dolce-gusto.co.uk, priced from RRP £3.68 for up to 16 cups.
I had such a fun time as a Dolce Gusto Blogger!
