The rise of the ankle strap heel
When it comes to shoes, there are so many styles to choose from. So many colours, so many possibilities. It’s well known in the fashion circles that I only own one pair of black shoes. The rest of my collection are a cacophony of styles, a rainbow of colours and anything but boring. My one stop shop for shoes is on the great British High Street – New Look.
Although you might think that I spend a fortune on Jimmy Choos (I wish!), Louboutins and LK Bennett you are sadly mistaken. I would say that at least 70% of my shoe collection hails from New Look. Good quality, long lasting, comfortable (finally a shoe with no pain!) and of course stylish and on trend.
This Autumn/Winter one key trend I have spotted is the ankle strap. It’s everywhere. A sleek look, ultra stylish – can be worn by day for the office or by night for the cocktail bar. Its a transitional shoe style.
Perfect with a pencil skirt, with peg leg trousers, even with skinny jeans on a night out. Don’t just stick to black though – go bold with bright colours, there is a lot of two tone about this season as well so you can have you pair of black heels, with a touch of complementary colour for a stylish, finished look.
You can work wide straps in bold colours, or several smaller straps in metallics for a more minimalistic look.
Ankle straps give a touch of sexiness to your outfit, but are still chic and refined – a classic look that doesn’t seem to be moving on; so these can be investment pieces for your shoe collection for some time to come.
