A/W at Wallis | Monochrome Rules

Last year I had the pleasure of attending the Wallis Autumn/Winter preview hosted by Jo Collins, the Wallis Design Director. A select group of bloggers and journalists were privy to the latest collection to launch for the high street staple brand.

One trend that seemed to have a strong focus at Wallis is monochrome. Well maybe more black than white but the Little Black Dress is no more.. there are some new pieces in town. The LBJ is the way forward – the Little Black Jumpsuit.. oh yes!

Wallis really has had a rejuvenation of late. Jo is the powerhouse behind the design team of a brand that has been on the British high street since 1923. A lady of great style, great sense of humour and also of great taste. She knows what the Wallis woman wants and she knows how to deliver it. What I love is that the collection drops into store with new pieces every four weeks, yes they have our pay day sussed! Perfect timing for a pep up in your wardrobe, but there are also new pieces online everyday, so make sure you favourite the homepage.

There are two levels to the Wallis brand now – ‘W’ – the limited edition collections, the grown up, premium brand. These are the pieces that you take time to consider, work our your capsule wardrobe and then invest. For Autumn/Winter urban undertones are the basis of the Metropolis AW13 ‘W’ collection, effortless chic mixed with relaxed formality. This is where the monochrome is a key statement in the capsule line. Wallis’ mainline for AW13 focused on opulence and good old fashioned glamour; a lot of texture, a lot of embellishment in a very current and feminine collection.

A favourite of mine is the Black Necklace Jumpsuit; I’m finally given in to the jumpsuit trend.

Black Jumpsuit

I love the detailing that goes alongside it and the embellished necklace trim glams this piece up for an evening out with the girls. You can also accessorise with a bright wide belt to wear this to the office. It will break the suit up so it appears to be a two piece and makes it a versatile buy.

This classic black polka dot dress is going to see me through until Spring. A timeless addition to your wardrobe.

Black Polka Dot Dress

With a soft floaty skirt and keyholes at the neck this dress; team with a hot coral cropped cardigan, thick black tights and brightly coloured mary jane heels for day. For night switch it to edgy rock, team with a black cropped biker jacket and chunky black boots with metal detailing for a glam rock chick with a twist look!

I am a massive fan of the printed tapered trouser, these black animal print pair from Wallis hit the spot this season. Crafted from a beautiful crepe fabric that sits fabulously on the leg.

Black Animal Print Trouser

Always team this style with a heel and I love how they are styled here with a strappy cami top and a bright, bold blazer. You can’t be a wallflower in this type of print so why not add a bold colour. They would also look fabulous with a grey tee shirt and a open black biker leather jacket for a night out look.
