Canon PowerShot N2 | The latest camera for bloggers
A while ago I went on a photography course hosted by Jessops at their central London store’s Jessops Academy. It was a huge help for giving me confidence to move away from the automatic setting on my Canon 550D and embrace the best shooting modes for my fashion and beauty photo shoots.
The lovely team at Jessops told me about the Canon PowerShot N2 – the best camera for on the go bloggers and sent me one to test out. Initially I was sceptical. I love my DSLR camera and I didn’t think that such a small camera would work for me. But as I like to say (as I am 5’4”) good things come in small packages.
Canon PowerShot N2 | The latest camera for bloggers
The Canon PowerShot N2 is exclusive to Jessops and it is a great camera to use. Sleek and modern with its white casing, it has been a regular in my handbag for a few weeks now – meaning I can snap away at any opportunity and whatever I come across; rather than being prepared with my big camera bag for my Canon 550D and all its lenses etc.
Tilt up screen
The 180o tilt-up 2.8-inch (7.1cm) touchscreen is fabulous. You can use the tilt screen in numerous ways meaning that you can take selfies with ease, take landscape distant shots and product shots, with the screen being in the best place at the time for your shot.
Intuitive Touch Screen
The Canon PowerShot N2 has a simple, intuitive touch operation. It is like using your smartphone where you are so used to touching a screen to take a photo – it’s perfect, although you can also take a photo using the dial on the front too.
Wi-Fi Connectivity
Need to be taking photos and getting them online whilst on the go. The Wi-Fi connectivity allows you to link up to your phone or your computer so you can get your images live straight away. You can also upload images to social networks – straight from the camera. Use the Canon Connect app to remotely control the camera from your smartphone.
A 16.1 Megapixel Camera
I was super surprised at the quality of the images from such a small camera. It automatically chooses the setting so if you want to do micro the detail is amazing. Yet it knows when to take a fabulous landscape or group shot. The camera automatically adapts and ensures sharp, detailed photos even if you are shooting in low light.
All the images you see in this post are from my testing and playing around with the Canon PowerShot N2, mostly at a festival in Spain; Romeria of Moguer. Next step is making a movie. Apparently it’s super easy. With one touch of a button you can shoot superb Full HD movies at 30fps with stereo sound. Now that is something that might take me a little bit of practice! Plus there is a Creative Shot movie mode to take short movies of 3-7 seconds using unique filters. Sounds like I need to get the manual and read up a little!
I just love having this camera in my bag available to shoot at any time. The ease of uploading to my phone makes instagramming super easy and I definitely think it is a great camera for bloggers who want to take quick shots but still have great results. Obviously I would still use my Canon 550D for my photo shoots and big projects; but the results from the PowerShot N2 make it a great go to for bloggers who are on the go!
What do you think? What’s your go-to camera for blogging or quick snaps?

It looks like a great little compact camera! I use a Sony Nex-T at the moment which also has a flip around screen for selfies but I think it’s a bit bigger than this one so it’s a little chunky in my bag sometimes. xo

I think there are definite benefits to having a second camera to put in your handbag if your budget allows. I think i will use it a lot

I have to admit I am either at two extremes… I take my DSLR with my lenses or I just use my iphone (there is no middle ground!). This makes me want to get something small and compact just to throw in my bag and go!!!

Hi,
I used it last night at an event. Still used my phone for Instagram there and then. But the PowerShot was fab for other shots and looks great. Worth the investment i think

Oh wow, this camera takes amazing photos to be so small! I was thinking about getting a new camera because I have a Pentax Kx but I can’t get it to work properly. Probably it’s because I’m not very technical when it comes to photography and I’ve got no patience at all!
Anyway, I am thinking about getting another DLSR and this is not, right?
