Day at the Races with M&Co

I love the summer. There are so many great events to attend plus usually a good few weddings. Which means that the wardrobe needs to be refreshed and some fabulous dresses purchased. I usually buy a few new dresses in the summer and then mix and match with staple blazers and best loved shoes.

Day at the Races with M&Co

This summer British fashion company M&Co asked me and a few of my fellow bloggers to style a dress from their Day at the Races collection for exactly that.. what would we wear to the races. I also think that this kind of outfit is a great wedding guest option and the dress I chose is perfect for switching between summer events.

Brush Stroke Print Dress

The dress I chose fitted me just perfectly, it is a little clingy but with good underwear you can afford to go on the smaller size to what you would normally choose; I am wearing a size 8 and I am normally a size 8/10. The reason I loved this dress was the brush stroke print. Reminiscent of Chanel brush stroke of Spring 2014. This was the perfect opportunity to join this trend without the price tag of a French fashion house!

I also love the array of colours in the Brush Stroke Print Dress. Lending to a multitude of colour combinations for accessorising. I chose to team with a white jacket and pink heels and a blue blazer and blue wedges, to emphasise the colourways in the print. The fit is great, especially around the bust and I like the wrap aspect to the skirt of the dress. Super comfortable as it’s jersey material, you will definitely feel at ease all day at whichever event you choose to wear it at.

Day at the Races

This first look is a simple one; taking the white background and playing to it with the white blazer. I didn’t have time to grab a fascinator for this shoot but I would have teamed a simple pink floral head piece to work with my accessories.

The shoes add a pop of colour that works with the dress (and my nails) but be warned; if you’re a hard core race day attendee, heels don’t normally work unless the ground is very firm. Wedges are recommended which is why I wore them in my second look.

The second look is great for a wedding. A slight cropped blazer, with a token floral touch with my Hawaiian flower. This works for the races as well as for a wedding outfit. As dress code normally states that shoulders should be covered, this is a great lightweight jacket to work with the code. Wedges are a godsend when it comes to the race track. Easier to walk around in, no sinking heels and a boost of height so you can see what’s going on in the stands.

M&Co have a great selection in their Day at the Races collection from floral dresses in this seasons brightest colours or separates that you can make a statement in such as an embellished cardigan or bold print.
