Weddings | Stationary
Next week we are going to see the first potential venue for our wedding and last month I went to my first wedding show as a bride at the Creative Brides Vintage & Unique fair at Scotney Castle. So the wedding planning has commenced! Once we choose the venue for our special day, it will be time to send out Save The Date cards and this is where the fun begins.
Wedding stationary is such a vast area. Do you want to go traditional font, style and with your colour scheme? Or a little bit original and unique and something that people will remember. For me, wedding stationary should flow, so from the Save The Date Card to the actual invitation and event information, right through to menu cards and place settings, if you are having them.
Save The Date
When my parents got married I’m sure there were no “Save the Date” cards arriving in the post. It was all word of mouth and probably a lot of ‘on the grapevine’ between family members going on. But as our generation seem to live further away from family and friends, as we travel and settle down in new areas, Save the Date cards can be a great idea.
“As a general rule, it’s best to start spreading the news at around six months prior to the ceremony (eight months for a faraway destination). This gives wedding guests plenty of time to book their travel, save a bit of cash, and ask for days off from work. Any earlier, and they may toss the notice aside. Any later, and it might as well be an invitation.” The Knot, Save The Date Etiquette Tips
There are so many options to choose from. I’m not going to giveaway the design I’ve chosen but here are a few great options that I’ve been looking at whilst I plan the wedding stationary.
Foiled Invitations – The cream of the crop
For the luxury look, and one that I think fits into the 1940’s Gatsby theme well is a foiled invitation. The glamorous style, crisp look that can look very modern and timeless. Foiled Invitations have a great range of classic, modern luxury stationary.
Contemporary Design – Personal to you
A Four Letter Word is a contemporary wedding stationery design studio based in the south of England and I love their really unique, quirky designs. There are some really great new ideas from owner Beth. Whether it’s maps as your theme or making the most of your colour scheme, this is a great contemporary design.
Something Different – Your way
This is your wedding, this is your opportunity to do what you want to do. So why not do something different? Your Save the Date doesn’t need to be the same as everyone elses. Announce your wedding in a really cool way. How about a personalised magnet – everyone can be reminded each day of your big day when they open the fridge.
Or why not go the postcard route? I love this, and it would be a great memento for your guests. This option also means you can do anything with your invitation, the postcard doesn’t need to flow into the style of your wedding stationary if you don’t want it to.
Wedding Paper Divas have a great range of different ideas for your wedding stationary.
Wish us luck in the search for our perfect wedding venue!
