5 Daring Hair Trends for 2013
If you’re thinking of adopting a new hair trend for 2013, the sleek bob is a winning look on recent catwalks and long effortless locks still remain prevalent. But if you want to go for a strong look that’s big in the style stakes, why not try one of 2013’s more courageous trends?
Platinum Blonde
Platinum blonde locks have never really been out of fashion. From Marilyn Monroe’s candyfloss waves, to rock poster-girl Debbie Harry’s dark-roots look, and Linda Evangelista’s bleached crop, there’s always been a space in the fashion stakes for this bold hue.
But bear in mind, this one’s not for the faint hearted; this is a big impact look that requires a big commitment. Always be sure to visit a reputable salon and maintain healthy hair through regular conditioning treatments.
Tomboy Hair
Androgynous styles are big for 2013, so naturally, boyish hair trends have been strong on the runways.
To channel the traditionally masculine Dandy style, hair needs a severe parting and should be slicked back. But equally popular this season is the effortlessly chic, just rolled out of bed look. To achieve this, inject a little bit of texture at the roots with sea salt spray, and keep hair tucked casually behind the ears.
Alternatively, pull back your hair into a low messy ponytail for a no-fuss boyish ‘do.
1960s Bouffant
The 1960s bouffant continues to resonate throughout the fashion world. Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Moschino and Oscar de la Renta all channelled variations of the 60s bouffant on their SS 2013 runways.
Wet-Look
The multi-textured half wet, half dry hairstyle is one that graced the runways of Victoria Beckham and Barbara Bui SS 2013, whilst the more casual ‘carelessly effortless’ wet look also featured heavily.
To channel the latter, slick hair back from the forehead and tuck behind the ears.
Futuristic
The futuristic ponytail dominated Alexander Wang’s 2013 SS shows. To get this look, pull hair into a low slung pony tail, keeping the top of the head sleek with a classic middle parting. One tied, inject texture into the bottom of the pony tail by gently backcombing or using curling irons to create a soft wave. Finally, add a strip of tape down the centre parting of your ‘do to really nail futuristic glam.
So there you have it. Will you be channelling any of the featured looks this year?
