Catch a Rising Star – The Hottest Fashion Talents

While Chanel and Dior routinely deliver excellent collections on a regular basis, it is the some of the more lesser known fashion designers that are starting to steal the spotlight from these larger houses. With more designers entering the arena each year, there are new talents being identified that are slowly working their way to the top.

Catch a Rising Star – The Hottest Fashion Talents

For many of the newer talents, the rise to fame is coming at breakneck speed and they are seeing their collections vaulted into the higher echelon of fashion. A person that would like to stay up to date with the hottest talents will need to put the following names on their radar.

Giambattista Valli

Giambattista Valli may not be the newest designer on the scene, but he is being talked about more and more with each collection he releases. Stints working with Roberto Capucci, Fendi, and Emanuel Ungaro gave the Italian-born designer the experience he needed to become confident enough to start out on his own. His first haute couture show came in July of 2011 and it has been smooth sailing since then. Most experts point to his deep understanding of texture and form as a critical element in his success and this attention to detail can be seen in all of his works. For the 2012 Fall show, Valli impressed viewers by using traditional spring colors in the autumn context to considerable effect.

Rebecca Minkoff

Another designer that is seeing a huge jump in her popularity is Rebecca Minkoff. Although she achieved fame early in her career, it was more for her accessory design, such as with the notable Morning After Bag. Her first foray into the clothing world came in 2009 with a ready-to-wear show. Since that time, Minkoff has amazed fashion industry insiders with her ability to create garments that simultaneously fit well under the high fashion umbrella while remaining perfectly wearable by the average woman. Minkoff’s stock is certainly on the rise and many people have the designer picked to be a major force to be reckoned with in coming years.

Theyskens Theory

Favouring earthy and darker tones, Belgian designer Olivier Theyskens seems born for the fashion world. With supportive parents supporting his instinct for clothing design from an early age, Theyskens knew at the age of 7 that fashion was his calling in life. Even though his first attempt at starting a label at the age of 20 failed, the designer pushed forward by working in theater costume design. Following a dress sale to pop icon Madonna, Theyskens held top designing positions with both Rochas and Nina Ricci before stepping out on his own again in 2009. This time, it seems success is in the cards as all of his collections have been both well-received by critics and have sold quite well.

These three designers are bubbling under the radar of mainstream fashion, but it is only a matter of time before they break through to the big leagues. A person who wants to own a piece by one of these talents should act now before they reach the same acclaim as bigger houses and their prices shoot through the roof.
