Ladies! Summer is here, so why not try out some of the most unusual beauty secrets out there? They’ll help you look red-carpet ready in no time and will ensure you feel fantastic throughout 2012.

Five unusual red carpet beauty secrets

1) Apply clear deodorant to your face

You might not have realised but Botox can help your stop sweating, but if you don’t like the thought of needles, try applying clear, unscented deodorant to your face. This will stop your makeup from running and will keep your brow dry throughout the night. The upper lip and hairline have the most sweat glands, so roll a high-quality product over these areas for maximum effect.

2) Bath after putting on a makeup

Most people take a bath and then put on their makeup, but with this beauty secret you do things the other way round. Before a night out, paint your face and the jump in a nice, warm tub for ten minutes or so. The steam from the hot water will set your makeup and will leave you with a fresh, youthful glow. Always apply waterproof mascara, however, or you could end up with panda eyes.

3) Rub jelly powder onto your lips

Are you heading out to a party or event? Do you want to light up the room with beautiful red lips? If so, lick your smackers and rub on red jelly powder, as this will leave a brightly-coloured stain. Once that is done, apply a coat of red lipstick and head out on the town with your head held high. Your perfect pout should last and last and will save you running to the toilet to reapply your makeup. People often think the only way to get luscious lips is through having lip surgery but there are plenty of cheaper alternative you can try first.

4) Make a homemade facemask

If you’re suffering from pimples, blackheads or acne, raid your kitchen cupboards and learn how to make a homemade facemask. Start by mashing up several ripe strawberries and mix them with natural yogurt. The salicylic acid found in strawberries is thought to cure skin imperfections and the natural yoghurt is wonderfully cooling. You can also try blending banana and oats or applying avocados to your face to reduce the signs of ageing.

5) Enjoy a facial – with bee venom

Chemical peels are available at reputable clinics, but more and more people are having bee venom facials – which are thought to have similar effects. The venom is believed to take control of the muscles in your face and reduces lines and wrinkles, helping you to look younger than you are. The Duchess of Cambridge is thought to have had one before her wedding and The Duchess of Cornwall is also said to be a fan.

These beauty secrets may be a little controversial, but they’re definitely worth trying before heading out.
