With the current tendency for throw-away fashion and quick fix trends surrounding us in the fashion industry, one part of the business that seems to remain true to its core and not be trend led is jewellery and accessories.
LadyM Presents has stumbled across a fabulous jewellery brand that as well as being beautiful and fresh faced, it is also thinking about ethics and the environment. That leads to a big gold star from us!
Gina Stewart Cox Jewellery
Gina Stewart Cox’s jewellery has been worn by celebrities such as Nicola Roberts, Cheryl Cole, Jessie J and the Saturdays. She has been featured in every magazine from Elle to Cosmopolitan and creates beautiful friendship bracelets for both men and women.
Gina is just 24 years old and after working for Betty Jackson, Gina started creating her own jewellery that is inspired by the traveller within Gina herself. Taking inspiration and influence from around the world; she sources material from Italy, Thailand, Japan, America and Hong Kong.
She wanted to create beautiful and durable cord bracelets that you don’t have to take off, and can be worn in the shower and sea that still represent the bright, fun bracelets she picked up on holiday, without becoming tatty and falling apart. Waterproof accessories; genius idea (particularly for men!)
Ethical Edge
Gina Stewart Cox is proud to be collaborating with the Elephant Conservation Network in western Thailand to help resolve the human – elephant conflict. Gina’s collection is produced by the villagers in Thailand with each piece created offering more jobs and a better way of life.
Gina set up a production workshop in Thailand to help offer work for the local people. After two years of preparation she can now offer alternative jobs for the villagers who live in the wild jungle, just West of Bangkok. With locals having to previously travel huge distances, putting them at risk of the wild and dangerous elephants and snakes, she has created this wonderful venture where women will gather when and where possible to make her bracelets, offering and alternative way to earn a living.
The aim is to help a good cause and Gina has always had a love for Thailand, which is one of the places she travels in source of inspiration. It is somewhere that has always been close to her heart, and why she chose to set up her workshop here.
The jewellery range from Gina Stewart Cox has some fabulous pieces; ranging from £30 to £400 and her designs focus on ‘love and friendship’. You can view the collections at her website.
