Maarten van der Horst one of the youngest cult new talents of the London scene, has made is signature with very trendy Hawaiian prints.
Maarten graduated from the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts of Arnhem (Holland) with a BA and then took his MA at London´s Central Saint Martins. He has previously worked for Chloé and amazingly hit the Fashion-East at London Fashion Week last September. Now the Dutch designer is coming back with a work of tropical prints which definitely screams party chic rather than old guy from the eighties. His collection for Lulu & Co’s silk collection of botanical prints is today dominating the summer trend. Thanks to the loose shape and silky texture they give a relaxed fit to any body´s figure for a fashionable look that is a mixture between elegant and casual.
They look great both matched with a monochromatic skinny top or bottom as well as when mixed together: awesome if completed with high heels and a clutch purse!
On an interview published on Dazed Digital Maarten declares that he has“[…] always had a fascination with the exotic! […]” and he loves “[…] the fact that Hawaiian shirts are often associated with big, fat sex tourists in Bangkok. Just adds to the fun…”.
His website is about to be launched, but in the meanwhile you can find his recent tropical collection and the latest men and women t-shirt collection, Metallica and Iron Maiden inspired, on Maarten van der Horst´s Facebook page. Two such different collections foresee a designer that can definitely be inspired by many styles and will for sure keep inspiring us!
