We are all aware that women come in all different shapes and sizes, but how come womens shoes don’t seem to reflect that? It is not uncommon for shoes and boots to come in one standard width in an apparent “one fits all” style.
But this just isn’t right! We do not all have the same size feet, so obviously we do not all have the same width feet. And to add to our shoe shopping nightmares, badly fitting shoes can actually cause long-term damage to your feet, such as bunions, hammertoes, blisters and other nasty foot ailments.
Finally the shoe fits!
So, if we know all this, why do we put up with it? The high street seems to neglect that yes, we want to be stylish but we also want to be comfortable, especially after a few hours of dancing round our handbags on a girly night out. So what is the solution?
Duo Boots provide shoes in three width fittings (narrow, standard and wide) meaning there is a perfect fit for us all. Hooray! A handy tip is to measure your feet at the end of the day when your feet have swelled during the course of the day and will therefore give a more accurate reading.
So now we know how to solve our fitting woes we can get on with deciding which shoe we want in our spring wardrobe.
The Flat

The flat is the perfect solution for spring walks, Saturday shopping or just doing the school run, and there are plenty of styles to choose from. My personal favourite it the classic ballet style, an effortlessly stylish choice. I shall be following the bright trend this year and making mine stand out in cerise pink. They will look gorgeous teamed with an emerald green lace dress.
Kitten Heel
A kitten heel is always a great option for work. It still has the sophistication of a heel, but the comfort of a flatter style. Teamed with burgundy chinos and a classic white blouse, you will be sure to be taken seriously in the height of office chic.
The Wedge
For those of you that like the height a heel gives you but not the unsteady feeling, a wedge heel is the ideal alternative. A wedge can easily take you from day to night, whether it is from the office to the bar or from a day out to a romantic dinner for two, the wedge has your options covered. Dressed up with a cocktail dress or dressed down with a pair of skinny jeans you are always going to win some serious style points with a wedge.
Shoe Boot
Finally, and any shoe round up would not be complete without them, it’s the heel. Perhaps not the most practical of shoes, but this doesn’t stop us loving them. And with the right fitting, the difference will be instantly noticeable. This season the shoe boot is still a fashion favourite. Styled with a midi skirt, cropped tailored trousers (make them cropped and show them off!) or even denim shorts your heels will be sure to stand out. I’m loving leopard print right now, so shoe boots + leopard print = the perfect combination. A hidden platform will also give a few extra inches without the strain on your feet.
Whatever your favourite style, the most important thing to remember when buying shoes is that style and comfort can go hand in hand, or foot in shoe as the case may be!
