Guest Blog: Menswear – “The New Man”

Greys, blacks, navys and browns teamed with straight-laced accessories and standard materials is all menswear has seen in recent years. Of course there have been innovative designers who decided to go against the grain but ultimately, menswear remained unchanged.

Mens Fashion – “The New Man”

On the style-front however, there has been a change. Men are no longer looking to go out on the proverbial “hunt”. They are looking to attract – like peacocks do with their feathers and the poses of a male bonobo in season, the gentleman’s attire has become an attraction and stylists around the world are taking notice!

The Metrosexual man is the man who takes care of himself and likes to look good. The man who will see to the most minute detail in order to look and feel good. This man, however meticulous, remains relatively understated. He is somewhat of a hybrid, possessing all the cool of James Dean but the humility of Coldplay’s Chris Martin. The New Man is more forward. Unafraid to challenge the norm and always ready to stand out and take charge! This is the man of 2012 – the man taking the world by storm!

Break away from the rule book

Gentlemen, there is but one way to get ahead in life and that is to make your mark so stop abiding by the rules – change the game and play it your way! Clashing is no longer a problem and patterns and textures should run free in your wardrobe. Block colour is not something to shy away from – embrace it and make it your own.

Accessories such as bow-ties and pocket squares are not mearly to simply fill a collar space or a breast pocket. Shakespeare wrote “The apparel oft proclaims the man” – your style is an expression of who you are so never dilute it, go straight in for the kill.

There’s always a problem with regards to the pocket and the wardrobe one looks to possess. A kind of “spirit is willing but the flesh is weak” scenario. This needn’t be an issue anymore, though.

Look to the designers featured in our “New Man” editorial for ultimate style and marvellous accessibility!

A Suit That Fits

A Suit That Fits looks to bring back the idea of the local tailor to London. Our city was once bustling with bespoke tailoring businesses and as time passed, they have become few and rather far between. There is nothing better than wearing something that you know fits you perfectly and as Claire Webber, Marketing Executive at A Suit That Fits rightly said, “there is no worse crime than an ill-fitting suit!” Working in a range of materials and cuts, you can guarantee a good fit every time from the company and I can assure you, once you start, you won’t be able to stop with them!

BlueCollarSmart

BlueCollarSmart is a shirt company which works in a similar way to that of A Suit That Fits. Dealing in both bespoke shirts and ready-to-wear, the company deals with a handful of private clients at the moment. Launching online later this year, you will not be able to look away from the electric blue collars and beautiful and unique materials used in the company’s collection. Keep your eyes peeled and ears to the ground – this here, is a peek into fashion’s future (stick with me and you’ll remain months ahead of the industry)!

Terry-James Lynch Bow-Ties

Another brand to launch this year is Terry-James Lynch Bow-Ties. Rather contrary to his designs, Mr. Lynch is a calm, collected and shy (at first encounter) man. His bow-ties are recognisable from a mile away and go up in degrees of fashion-forwardness so don’t worry – if you can’t see yourself donning a leather studded bow-tie, feel free to opt for a velvet one or even a mesh one in bright colour!

You’ll be hearing from me again soon! Remember, take charge and stand out.
