It is a strange thing but “ballet pump” is a term for shoes that may apply to two very different sets of footwear.
The wonders of ballet pumps
Yet the “ballet pump” is also a description of a style of shoe that owes much to the shape of the dancing shoes mentioned above.
Typically cut low at the front and rising up at the back in what might be seen almost as a canoe shape, this type of footwear manages to be elegant, comfortable and practical, all at the same time.
The elegance comes from the vast range of designs, finishes and colours that are available on the market. The comfort arises from the fact that these are relatively flat shoes with smallish heels, where the emphasis has always been on how good they feel on the foot.
In terms of practicality, these shoes may be worn under trousers or with a skirt – and assuming you choose a slightly more formal style, they may look equally suitable when worn with more formal dresses and evening wear.
The ballet pump is often the shoe of choice for the office, when you need to look smart but may also have to spend a significant amount of time on your feet.
You can find cute and pretty ballet pumps from Zalando or another online outlets – there are so many wonderful designs and colours, you’ll be spoilt for choice!
If you have never worn this type of shoe before, you may find that once you have tried them, you become converted and a lifelong fan!
