Curl Mi Brush from Wow Pamper Lounge

Before I start, I’d like to say that I hate gimmicks. Maybe because I try so many products promising the ‘new innovation in beauty’, or words to that effect, or maybe because things rarely deliver exactly what they promise. When I got sent the ‘Curl Mi’ brush to review from Wow Pamper Lounge, I more or less expected a gimmick. I’ve tried all sorts of different hair brushes, and really? Nothing really stands out. My arm gets tired after a while, or I struggle more when doing one side of my hair than the other. I’ve always wanted to be able to blow dry my hair with just a brush alone, but to create that voluminous, blow dried effect, I always resort to using straighteners to create the curls.

The Curl Mi brush is anti-static and circular, and kind of reminds of one of those spiky weapon things from the Medieval era. It also reminded me of a microphone, which led to a lot of me pretending to be a rock star in the mirror while I should have been using it on my hair. It’s apparently designed to eliminate ‘gaps and flat patches’ in the hair, and styles your hair no matter which direction you use the brush in. It detangles, massages the head, and when used with a dryer, hot air filters through the vents in the brush, reducing the time spent blow drying.

As I said, I was sceptical. I’ve used all manner of brushes and have sat for hours, miserably trying to shape my hair round a barrel shaped bristle brush, bored and uncomfortable.  I washed my hair as normal and used a blob of James Foward’s ace blow drying lotion on towel dried hair, then sat down to experiment. It felt a little strange at first, but I quickly got used to the shape of the brush. I sectioned off hair and just brushed through while drying.

It was so easy! Usually you have to be a bit of a contortionist to roll hair on a brush and hold the dryer, but the Curl Mi makes it so easy. I usually have to put down the dryer every time I re-roll my hair onto the brush, but I was able to just keep twirling my hair up. It made the whole process so easy, injected a whole heap of volume into my hair, and gave it an incredible shape. It was so effective that I spent the next two days walking around swishing my hair about like an idiot, but all in all, I was very pleased!

As I said, I’d usually do an entire style with straighteners, but not only is this damaging to the hair, but can look a little fussy as well. I wanted some natural volume, and this was the ideal way of doing it. Because I love big hair, I’ve used every kind of mousse and hairspray going, and while they might have the desired result, I hate the feeling of loads of product on my hair. The Curl Mi brush helped me get volume that lasted for ages, as well as a slightly messy, slightly sixties look. In the photos I’ve included here, I used the straighteners just to flick out a couple of bits, but only to finish the look, the rest was down to the Curl Mi!
