International Personal Trainer Aimee Stevens: FIT 2012 Week 3

It’s pretty hot this week, to say the least. Heading to the gym might be the last thing on your mind. After a week off to get race ready (Bupa London 10,000), I had my latest session with Aimee Stevens, International Personal Trainer at The Gym, in Tunbridge Wells.

One word of advice this week – make sure you keep hydrated. If you’re exercising in temperatures that we’re experiencing this week, its crucial to maintain your hydration levels before, during and after exercise. I learnt the hard way, despite thinking I drank enough water during last weekend’s Bupa London 10,000, I still managed to get heat stroke.

Under the 28 degree heat, myself and Running Dez managed to clock a 49:51 10,000 metre time on the Olympic Marathon route and if it wasn’t quite so hot, we might have even gone quicker.

FIT 2012: Week 3

So back on the FIT 2012 plan with personal trainer Aimee, I had my Biosignature Modulation Testing again to see how my bodyfat percentage and body composition has changed after the first fortnight of training. Good news, my measurements have come down. I’m still waiting the final result but feel pretty happy with the results after my high protein diet and time spent pulling sleds and pushing weights in The Gym.

This Week

  • Its all about chest, back and hamstrings in training session one. I can’t even begin to explain the machine I contorted myself in to do some hamstring curls
  • I’ve bought a bobble, the stylish, reusable water bottle that filters water as you drink, using an ingenious replaceable carbon filter. When water passes through the filter, the carbon removes chlorine and organic contaminants – it looks odd but I really recommend it
  • I need to pick my next 10k event to enter to motivate me to achieve my goals
  • It’s all systems go – with two sessions a week and Aimee is upping the intensity! Eek! But I’m up for it
