Kate Moss launches lipstick for Rimmel

There are a handful of enchanting things that make me oh so proud to be British. I adore our traditions and rituals (afternoon tea, anyone?), I love the fact that we still have a lingering ‘Blitz spirit’ that comes out in times of national crisis.

I love cricket played on a village green, and seeing grown men getting emotional about rugby. But I am also hugely proud that we can lay claim to the luminous Kate Moss, one of the super-est supermodels there is. I’ve always found the newly dubbed Mrs Jamie Hince utterly delightful and entirely gorgeous, and the merest glimpse of her visage is enough for me to want to buy any item she’s sporting.

Kate Moss & Rimmel

I was exceptionally excited to hear about her collaborative lipstick range with Rimmel, and even more entranced when I saw the beautiful promotional video. What is it about Mossy? Year upon year, she looks infinitely more fantastic, and never puts a fashion foot wrong. In fact, I’d argue that her current Bardot-esque style is preferable to her minimal, pared down 90s incarnation. I’m over the moon that she’s put together this stunning collection with Rimmel in honour of their 10 year anniversary. What better way to celebrate? Both have got more fabulous with age, undoubtedly.

Rimmel’s key phrase, the ‘London Look’ is perfectly illustrated by glossy Mossy. At times grungy, at times edgy, at times Studio 54 glam, she is chameleon-like, and Rimmel have always proven themselves to be a brand that moves with the times. It’s a perfect time to be launching this range, with London still on a high from London Fashion Week, puffed up with pride. As to the range itself? I’m almost obscenely fanatical about red lipstick, and Kate is sporting the most gloriously perfect shade in the ad (shade 001 I do believe. Didn’t you know, naming make up is passé?!) I’m having to physically restrain myself from popping out to hunt for it.

Take a look at the video – she’s surely the most perfect example of ‘the London look’ you could have, slipping onto the red carpet in bare feet before boarding a helicopter, as you do. And have a little lust over the shade Kate’s wearing. Not too cool, not too dark, it’s certainly going straight into my extensive red lippie collection. There are seven shades to choose from, and you know that you’re in safe hands with this collaboration from two classics: the queen of fashion herself, and one of the UK’s favourite cosmetics brands. Hey – you can thank me later.
