On Sunday 18th September 2011, the sun was shining over Somerset House as the LadyM Presents team returned to London Fashion Week’s Home. This time with an invitation from the British Fashion Council to the Estethica Champagne Brunch.
Estethica
Esthetica Spring/Summer 2012 is the fifth season of a ground-breaking concept supporting the rise of sustainable fashion and showcasing the best of eco design. We arrived at the venue, swiftly given a glass of champagne and browsed the galleries of Somerset House meeting amazing people and discovering great fashion labels.
A little after Midday and with a canapé in hand, whilst browsing the other collections showing at Somerset House, LadyM and Amelia found themselves talking to PR company Bloody Gray about the amazing concept of recycling Yak’s nipples. Yes you read that right. If you look carefully at the images below you will see that all the items on show are made from recycled leather scraps mainly the nipples of Yaks by designer Rachel Freire, Lady Gaga eat your heart out, this is the next stage on from that amazing meat dress.
We also found the amazing concept of ‘shoellery’, jewellery for shoes. Giving endless opportunity to restyle existing shoes in your collection for a new look.
It was lovely to chat to some great eco fashion brands who we will be featuring more on ladympresents.co.uk in the near future.
Street Style at Somerset House
London Fashion Week would not be complete without a chance to soak up the atmosphere and watch those shows we don’t have invites for, on the big screen outside the BFC Showspace at Somerset House. It also gave us the opportunity to boost the caffeine intake for the day, have a dose of sunshine and people watch. We were not disappointed. LadyM herself declared her main aim for Day 3 of LFW was to meet Lenny the Pug, the blogging dog from Stylist Magazine. Her wish came true and he was looking very dapper in a Mulberry jumper.
It’s always difficult to decide what to wear for Fashion Week. It all depends on how many shows you are dashing about to, the weather, the after parties and of course your style. LadyM played it safe on day two and three with the androgyny trend for Autumn/Winter. Matching fabulous Little Mistress chiffon print blouses with Zara black trousers. The Little Mistress cute birds with top hats and mushroom print blouses caused quite a storm across LFW with many fabulous comments being made about them.
Day 2 LFW:
LadyM – Little Mistress Cream Mollie Bird Print Top, Zara Trousers, New Look Heels & GIVe Tuxedo Jacket
Amelia – Primark black velvet dress, cream chiffon top, Topshop ivory drape jacket, New Look black shoe boots, straw boater
Meanwhile Beauty Editor Amelia took to Fashion Week like a duck to water, embracing the “go for it” concept with some great looks for the weekend. Mixing vintage with high street and adding in a few quirky accessories, the photographers loved her on Sunday, stopping her often for a quick street style snap.
Day 3 LFW:
LadyM – Little Mistress Printed Pixie Mushroom Top, H&M trousers, New Look Heels, Zara bag & sunglasses from New Zealand Fashion Week Designer Sale
Amelia – French Connection navy drape front dress, violet Fiore tights, shoe boots, Topshop cape, vintage fascinator, cream snakeskin clutch
