London is the home of fashion in my opinion and this Sunday was the day I have been waiting sometime for, London Fashion Weekend A/W 09.
London Fashion Weekend A/W 09
It started with bacon sarnies, good coffee and Sky Sports News with the man in my life and swiftly moved on to a midday rendezvous at Charing Cross with my good friend Kathryn. Off we swept to Somerset House for London Fashion Weekend. Gold Tickets handed in for priority passes and we were swiftly guided to our seats for the catwalk show, with a healthy tasting of champagne cocktails on the way.
The catwalk show was awash with sharp, statement shoulders from Bernard Chandran, Reem and Alice + Olivia. With a gorgeous black feather shouldered, little black dress from Lipsy (who knew that brand would come up trumps!). We followed on from that with fabulous prints from Issa, Sea and Jean Pierre Braganza. I will be definitely researching the Issa label for on-trend, bold pieces for the office.
The collection from Manis Arora, fresh from Paris contained too much clashing colour, layering and outrageousness for me and Kat – but it was great to see nonetheless. An outfit of the day for me was the winter twist on the nautical outfit at Jaeger London; ecru and navy short sleeved jersey blouse teamed with tailored ecru shorts, navy snakeskin belt and thick patterned tights by Falke. Many, many gorgeous shoes were worn, most far too high for the average lady to contemplate wearing but definitely in one word – “Fabulous”. We couldn’t go to LFW without a browse around the boutiques at 180 The Strand and whilst Kathryn devoured and snapped up a gorgeous Kate Sheridan bag, I treated myself to a People Tree one-off sample top.
