This is a sponsored post by L’Oreal. You’ve probably seen Cheryl Cole in the advert for L’Oreal’s Falsh Lash Telescopic Mascara by now. The ad features a newly blonde-d Cheryl striking some poses and showing off the mascara to great effect.
L’Oreal False Lash Telescopic Mascara
Lady M Presents got sent a little sneaky peek behind-the-scenes video, which you can see below. When I watched the interview with the ever lovely Cheryl, I soon found out there was something rather unusual about the advert. Unlike so many of the other mascara ads out there, Cheryl has not been styled with fake lashes; or the unpleasantly named ‘lash inserts’ so often seen at the bottom of screens.
Did you catch that? I said, Cheryl is NOT wearing fake lashes for the ad! That means that – shock horror – those are the actual results of the mascara that you’re seeing. I would personally always rather see less dramatic looking lashes but know they’re real, than to have those ridiculously overblown fluttering lashes. Sadly, it’s still rather rare for companies to take this kind of plunge. In a sea of over-styled, faked out lashes, brands might worry that they won’t stand out. But I heartily applaud L’Oreal for taking such a great step in the right direction, and I hope they’ll lead the way for other brands.
The video also shows Cheryl explaining the concept behind the look and feel of the ad. Because the mascara itself is ‘off the scale’, Cheryl is also ‘off the scale’. So as you can see, she’s perched on a huge oversized chair, and walking through some extremely big doors.
Have a watch, and why not share your thoughts below? I personally like it. The innovative lengthening fibre formula builds intensity, creating lashes that look elongated. I think you can really see the difference in the final product, and it makes me more willing to buy the mascara as I can see real results! Do you think it’s a good idea that L’Oreal have opted for more realistic looking lashes? Should more brands follow in their footsteps?
