It’s no secret that the entire Lady M team are avid viewers of Made in Chelsea, and not only for ‘Winky Binky’ or Ollie’s hilarious and often bizarre antics – antigravity yoga, anyone?!
Made in Chelsea – Make up tips to get the look
Not only does Amelia lust after their expansive AND expensive wardrobes with a heady devotion not experienced since the third series of ‘Gossip Girl’, she also drools over their perfectly applied makeup (not literally, that would be vile). Here, she tells you – yes, you – how to get the Made in Chelsea look yourself.
Caggie
As is the case with most of the MIC girls, Caggie’s makeup is of the ‘deceptively simple’ variety. You know, when you spend half a morning agonising in the bathroom and making yourself look ‘natural’. It’s a sort of heightened natural, though, with emphasis on lashes and lips. Moisturise well, use oodles of primer and a foundation with a satin finish. Dust a good bronzer such as Nars ‘Laguna’ (perfect colour: all tan, no orange) on to temples and cheeks. Blend VERY well.
Apply a peach, not pink, blush to the apples of cheeks. For daytime, use a taupe coloured eyeshadow on lids, along with some softly blended black kohl eyeliner along the lash line. Get heavy duty lashes with the exceedingly clever ModelCo Fibre Lash. A little pricy at £35, but it deposits fibres on the lashes, creating a dramatic effect. A slick of peach gloss will give you the perfect Caggie pout. Finish it off with the multicoloured nails that Caggie loves.
Millie
Millie’s look is more dramatic than Caggie’s, and requires some serious grooming. It’s all in the prep, so now is the time to start investing in a top level beauty regime with regular exfoliation. If you’d prefer the extra 15 minutes in bed, you can still fake it. Millie’s brows are exceptionally well groomed, so either dig your tweezers out or get them done professionally. Threading is a great way to whip your brows into shape quickly. For Millie, it’s all about the latte coloured tan and extremely dewy skin. Mac’s Strobe Cream is a beauty classic that lasts for ages, and will go some way to creating that sheeny look. Either mix it with your foundation before applying, or dab it on with a finger afterwards.
Millie uses a very subtle blusher, if any, so use the palest apricot. One of the key elements to the Millie look is the flicks of liquid eyeliner. Any will do – I’ve found a Collection 2000 version just as effective as more expensive brands! With a steady hand, line just the outer third of your eye, and flick up at the side. Line with black mascara. To keep the focus on the eyes, wear a good nude lip – try ‘Peachstock’ by Mac. Avoid using any powder to set to keep yourself looking fresh faced!
Louise
Despite flitting on and off our screens like a…well, flitty thing, Louise certainly made an impression with some of her makeup choices. Where Millie and Caggie were all about the eyes, Louise used bold lip colours to make a statement. Keep skin pale but not completely matte, use mascara but not eyeliner, and focus all the attention on some crazy lip colour.
Louise went all out with a black lipstick earlier in the season. If you’re feeling braver than Braveheart, pick up Barry M’s Lip Paint in ‘Black’. Apply with a lip brush for absolute precision, and seal up with Lipcote, specially if you’re planning on kissing your very own Spencer. If, however, you think that now Halloween’s over, you wouldn’t go near it, you can copy Louise’s other looks with a classic berry red.
Ollie
It would be impossible to write about Made in Chelsea makeup without featuring the glorious Ollie. Achieve his doe-eyed look with heaps of mascara (waterproof, natch, for when one of your girlfriends breaks up with you AGAIN), a heavy duty foundation, and an awful lot of fake tan. For that perfect ‘rock Jesus’ hair, scrunch dry. We love you Ollie! Never change.
