Luxurious structured 1950′s fashion style for Autumn Winter 2012 – Magenta 8

When you think of British fashion, Saville Row often comes to mind, tailored jackets, structured classic shapes. Or maybe Burberry and their trench coats, capes and cropped military jackets. Well along with biker jackets and bell-sleeved boleros, all of the tailored, structured pieces, mentioned above are also luxury design house Magenta 8’s signature, and they are in abundance for the new season.

Magenta 8 – Stylish for Autumn/Winter 2012

We know that the temperatures are only just hotting up out there, but you know we like to be one step ahead. So looking forward to Autumn/Winter 2012, we present Magenta 8′s womenswear collection. The 1950’s have always served as Magenta 8’s era of inspiration – the Golden Years, when refined classic shapes and feminine silhouettes comfortably dominated a woman’s wardrobe.

Autumn/Winter 2012

The new collection is inspired by post-war prosperity, focusing on women’s natural confidence and inner beauty. We have loved the use of butterflies as a print or an embellishment in recent seasons and the subtle splendor of butterflies is intertwined throughout the Magenta 8′s collection. Featuring on all of the jacket’s silk linings and symbolizing change, each piece is named after a butterfly that inhabits the British Isles. The butterflies are a reminder to make changes when the opportunity arises, as change and transformation are inevitable for all. Butterflies have appeared in fashion and jewellery for centuries, but Magenta 8 brings the concept forward with a new notion of establishing a classic legacy for modern time.

Key pieces include a bell sleeve black jacket with ivory panelling, a camel and ivory colour-blocked fitted capelet and a black bolero with an oversized sculpted collar, trimmed in a thick border of ivory alpaca. With a colour palette ranging from Dark Chocolate to Ivory, Royal Grey to Navy Blue and Camel.

Alpaca – A luxury material

Much of the Magenta 8 pieces are made from luxurious baby alpaca, and the even more coveted royal alpaca and boucle alpaca. A superior, luxury fibre that has softness and warmth whilst being lightweight. Magenta 8 take the basic items in your wardrobe, enriching them with effortless elegance and timeless design.

Founded in 2006 by Giovanna Velasquez, Magenta 8 collections are heavily influenced by her Peruvian roots. A passionate designer, who knows what the modern woman wants to wear, her instinctive creativity and tireless attention to detail ensure each individual garment is as unique as the woman who wears it.
