We were walking up the High Street in Tunbridge Wells last week and something caught our eye, a glistening light coming from a slick white storefront, showing promise with a sign stating a new boutique opening soon, bringing us more great fashion to our Kent town.
Whistles adds style to Royal Tunbridge Wells
Ladies and Gentlemen on the 2nd June 2011, Whistles opens in Royal Tunbridge Wells on the High Street, just near Juliets and Joules. This is a great location for a fashion label with signature wearable style.
Whistles Spring Summer 2011 collection
The collection begins with a Seventies influenced Safari look then moves in to a chic resort story. There is a focus on Spring tailoring which comes in shades of muted pinks, camel and mink tones in the form of cropped jackets, high waisted culottes and wide leg trousers. Alongside these sit spotted silk pyjama suits with cropped trousers.
Soft fluid fabrics form draped lapels on jackets whilst gold snaffle trims sit across trouser waistbands. Outerwear is strong for Spring, with voluminous safari capes, neat a-line Sixties macs, Seventies inspired belted rain coats and soft silk parkas. A new take on short suits, made from waffle wool, they come with collarless jackets in shades of both neutral and brights,. Double breasted have a cute girlie feel to them, worn with mini skirts with softly curved hems. A-line skirts are key, finishing on, and gently skimming the knee, whilst longer mid calf lengths add new proportions to a silhouette. Pleating in soft fabrics gives a refreshingly new approach to skirts, with silks and georgettes, lace and brightly coloured chiffons that float and change shape with every move.
Trousers sit smartly on the waist, whether wide legged and loose, or cropped to the ankle in a slick cigarette pant style. Culottes and playsuits come in Seventies abstract, bow or spot prints. Knitwear comes in oversized shapes whilst softer, more girlish knits in stripes and waffle stitch look new in cardigan styles with a puffed sleeve.
Bags are structured and box shaped, worn on the shoulder or softly rounded, with small handles and a longer strap to wear across the body. Detailing includes accent colour trims in turquoise and pink and gold hardware.
The colour palette begins with muted desert tones of mink, sandlewood, rose, tobacco, mink and stone, this sits alongside smarter shades of navy, taupe, camel and rosewood. Both are accented with flash brights of lemon, mango, aqua and brightest pink.
We look forward to the store opening in Royal Tunbridge Wells and we’re sure it will be a great success.
