Spring/Summer at New Look – Monochrome mixes

We know it’s still a bit grim outside. It’s hardly stopped raining, the threat of snow is still there and it’s barely got above ten degrees. So lets look ahead to sunnier times, we are all about long hazy summer days and Spring/Summer 13 collections. We take a look at New Look and their take on the monochrome and white key looks for this season. With a little surprise at the end….

March on with Monochrome

Monochrome was big for both men and women on the catwalk for Spring/Summer. We know black might not be the first thing you think of when you think about your spring wardrobe; but it can really be a smart look for the office or a cool look for a night out this season. On the catwalk Louis Vuitton took us to the 1960′s with monochrome shift dresses and white headbands in the hair. It’s all chequerboard patterns and vibrant squares, and New Look have some nice linear takes on the trend. Our favourite is the Te Amo Black and White Stripe Midi Dress; we’re thinking days on the beach at St Tropez, cocktail in hand? Are you with us?

White Haze

White is key for Spring/Summer, it always has been. Now if you’re anything like me, you’ll need a good stain remover. I don’t trust myself in anything white. But this is a great way to have a fresh look for the Spring. Whether you choose broderie like that seen at Simone Rocha and Moschino or lace like Oscar de la Renta and Balmain. You don’t have to go full out white outfit; unless you have a good tan it doesn’t tend to work. But a white lace shell top or tee can give you the basis for an outfit for the office or simply wear with jeans at the weekend. Now if you are feeling brave; white trousers can be a really good look for Spring/Summer. Go nautical, or colour block – think bbq with friends, a stroll round the park or a smart evening look on holiday.

Final Pick

Ok we know they might be a little crazy, bit we couldn’t pass these shoes by. The fabulous Mutiny by Irregular Choice Blue “Can’t touch this” t-bar court shoes (£79.99), really play well with the floral trend for Spring/Summer 13.
