This Autumn/Winter the designers on the catwalk brought us one trend that we’ve not seen for sometime, the Cape. Wear it in this season’s ultimate colour; caramel, in a Burberry Tweed or a rich chocolate to add a touch of sophistication and warmth to your outfit.
The Cape – Wear it this winter
The cape can be described as “any sleeveless outer garment, usually it is a long garment that covers only the back half of the wearer, fastening around the neck”. In Victorian times ladies frequently use the cape as a fashion statement, “or to protect the wearer or the fine fabrics of their evening-wear from the elements.” Wikepedia
Vogue online describe the cape as the “ultimate throw on and go”, they are an easy to put together, completion of an outfit. It really fits in well with this seasons minimalistic tailoring. A cape doesn’t have embellishment, patterns and normally is in a light, natural colour scheme – think vanilla, tobac, caramel, or go classic in chocolate brow, chestnut and always in fashion, black.
Elle online explains that “Out on the streets, utility styles in wools and tweeds with pocket and button detailing are reigning supreme, . Sleek leather shorts, luxe shoes and fuss-free clothes transform this tricky buy into a superhero piece for the new season”.
