Wedding bloggers – love ‘em or leave ‘em? A Guest Blog

There’s no denying the size of the wedding industry. With the average day now costing a cool £20,000 (that’s a big chunk of change!), weddings are serious business and many brides turn to wedding bloggers to find inspiration, creativity and ways to cut costs.

Wedding bloggers – love ‘em or leave ‘em?

A Guest Blog from our resident wedding photographer, Kerry McNair.

Wedding blogs are hugely popular – they offer useful advice on planning your special day, complete with beautiful photography to help you visualise your ideas. There’s also a great community within wedding blogging and you’ll always find someone to help you find the perfect dress or source an unusual centrepiece.

I thought it’d be useful to list some of my favourite bloggers, who cater for a wide range of weddings, themes and tastes:

  • Style Me Pretty – a US blog showcasing beautiful brides and their personalised weddings. Very sweet and all-American.
  • Rock ‘n’ Roll Bride – great for brides who have an alternative style. Features ‘kickass weddings in an […] often puke-worthy wedding world’.
  • Love My Dress – glamorous, elegant, chic and vintage weddings with a general air of prettiness.
  • OMG I’m Getting Married – for fashion-forward brides, covering retro chic, designer and funky weddings.
  • Boho Weddings and Events  – want an alternative, boho-style day? Check out the individual weddings featured here.
  • Junk Shop Bride  – shabby chic, pre-loved, handmade and DIY weddings are what’s it’s all about at Junk Shop Bride.
  • Rock My Wedding – this blog caters for sophisticated, edgy and unforgettable weddings.

Wedding blogs are great for brides looking for DIY ideas or unusual, quirky touches, but if you’re a more traditional bride and don’t think these blogs really cater for you, have a read of this article. I love it because the writer recognises that not all brides are rock and roll, like the vintage look or have the time to grow their own flowers. It’s a bit controversial but that’s the beauty of it – it says what some of us are already thinking and is a great comfort if you feel a little left out of the wedding blogger world.
