The best time to workout and why
Are you constantly reading and hearing when is the “right” or “wrong” time to workout and getting confused with which is the best option for you and your goals? Well our in house Personal Trainer Dan Chapman is going to shed a little light on when the best time is to lose weight and give you his personal opinion on what is best and why.
Dan Chapman’s thoughts on exercise
Basically exercising at anytime of the day is beneficial to your health but when it comes to burning fat and losing weight, timing is absolutely everything.
My absolute favourite and what I preach daily to my clients, is early morning workouts on an empty stomach. Yes I know, it sounds hideous and crazy but this for me, hands down is the number one choice if your looking to burn fat, increase metabolism and lose weight.
In simple terms your body turns to its fat stores for energy as glycogen stores have been depleted overnight (food you ate the night before ) so the first thing your body uses for fuel is fat . It’s a no brainier option for fat loss.
The only negative is that your body’s energy levels are a little lower in the early morning, so you could experience some fatigue but this depends on your choice of exercise and how your body adapts.
If you feel energetic I would suggest a 15 min HIIT workout using intervals of 20 seconds of all out hard intensity. With 60 second active recovery ( still working but at a slow pace). Repeat this 10 times . This can be performed using on the treadmill, rower, elliptical trainer or using your own body weight workout.
