Fitness Friday | Get more sleep, lose weight
Many of my clients complain of not being able to get themselves out of bed in the morning and having very low energy levels, which results in them opting for the morning latte rather than hitting the gym.
Dan Chapman has become London’s go-to Celebrity Coach for fat loss & Body sculpting. Dan’s signature 3 week “IGNITE PROGRAMME” incorporates his unique Free-form HDT and HiiT platforms which work the entire body burning more fat in less time. Here he is going to tell us all about getting a good nights sleep and re training your mind for fitness.
All it takes is a bit of planning and a vision which will help you create a new routine . Once you start to implement your new routine you will create a new healthy habit so that both mind and body will be ready for action. There are so many amazing benefits to working out in the early hours apart from the obvious physical benefits it will also help you focus mentally becoming sharper and ready to attack the day ahead.

Here are my 5 tips to help you embrace the morning
1. Go to bed earlier
If you tend to stay up late, start going to bed 10-15 minutes earlier each night until you reach your ideal bedtime. Don’t expect to fall asleep at 9 or 10 if your used to going to bed at silly o clock. The key is to work up to your goal gradually. This could be the key. Get more sleep, lose weight.
2. Ditch the ipad or mobile phone
We all do it, lie in bed with our phones or ipads that is. in order to turn your brain off and relax you need to eliminate mental stimulation at bedtime . Plan the time your going to sleep and make sure that you start to unwind at least an 30-45 mins before you hit the sack. doing this will enable you to be in a more relaxed state of mind rather than it racing at a hundred miles an hour and therefore be able to fall off to sleep quicker giving you a more consistent deeper restful sleep.
3. Energy
If you’re getting seven or eight hours of sleep and are still waking up tired in the morning, it could be because you have low blood sugar levels. Wake up with more energy by eating a tablespoon of unsweetened almond butter before you go to sleep to help stabilise your blood sugar overnight.
4. Plan ahead
One of the best ways to avoid procrastinating and faffing in the early hours of the morn is by being organised. by choosing what workout clothes your going to wear the night before and laying them out ready to jump into when you wake will save time . Also having your workout planned is essential so you avoid walking around aimlessly when you get to the gym . Direction is everything
5 Another 5 minutes
Most of us set our alarms with a snooze timer. Whether yours is an extra 5 minutes or 45 try to commit to giving it up and getting up as soon as your alarm goes off. That way you are more likely to have more time at hand and be more focussed and able to plan your day while your getting ready for your workout or going to work
