This week it’s still cold. We’ve finished covering London Fashion Week and quite frankly we’re getting bored of putting our winter boots on. So to give us something to look forward to and warmer days to focus on we’re thinking about Ladies Day at the Cheltenham Festival.
Get ready for Cheltenham Ladies Day
Horse racing festivals have become fashion shows in their own right these days. At Cheltenham Festival Ladies Day there is a fashion award up for grabs so make sure your outfit it perfect. Plus there is a Festival village so you can combine the racing, entertainment and people watching with a spot of shopping too!
Ladbrokes asked us to pick two outfits that could really get the race goers fluttering. To be on trend for Spring/Summer we’ve gone monochrome with one outfit to really wow the crowd and then a touch of the tropics as we saw at Issa London’s SS13 show.
Outfit 1
This is a really great racing outfit. A touch of the monochrome trend without being really brash and pure black and white. Dress it up with some great heels and make sure you have a good oversized clutch to complement the outfit. It’s bound to be a touch chilly still in March so take a lightweight leather jacket to keep you warm, yet stylish. This one has a ruffle detail which is one of the ways to add depth to a look this season.
- Amyline Multi Sahara Print Fit & Flare Dress from Reiss, £139
- Leather Jacket with ruffle detail, Zara £149
- Metal Cage Toe Cap Court Shoe, BEWARE from Dune, £85
- Oversized clutch from Faith at Debenhams, £29
Outfit 2
So for a touch of hot tropics and day dreaming of warmer days, this Tee Dress is fabulous. Light, cheery yet not too bright and overpowering. The Zatchels metallic bag sets the look off well and effervescent metallics are “in” for Spring/Summer. In case it is a touch chilly in the paddock go a little Chanel with this cropped boucle jacket, and of course heels are a must – just don’t get stuck in the grass!
- Ganni Woven Tee Dress in Palm Print with Patent Leather Belt from Asos, £125
- Zatchels Metallic saddle crossbody bag, at BagServant £60
- Petite Coral Tweed Jacket, Dorothy Perkins £45
- Melissa Incense Wing Cream & Black Glitter Court from Van Mildert, £90
“The Festival is one of those rare events that engages everyone who comes into contact with it, never failing to produce award-winning drama, enjoyment, camaraderie and sporting excellence in a cocktail for which no hangover cure is required. It truly is a life affirming four days.” Cheltenham Festival.
